Shalom, friends. Tonight begins #TishaBav, the day of utmost soul-deep agony and grief in the Jewish calendar. We read Eicha, called “the Book of Lamentations,” (or “How?”) a poetic Megillah of profound beauty and horror, that speaks to both the collective nightmare and despair of the destructions of Jerusalem and brutality of exile in the 6th century BCE, and yet also whispers to our hearts about our own individual lived traumas, and the misery forced upon so many people in the world today, in our modern world. It is a Megillah that should be experienced in full, which is why I will never adapt it. I encourage you to read it, or hear it in community. If you are observing Tisha B’Av, I wish you a meaningful fast, and a transformative day of contemplation and reflection. 🖤

Shalom friends! As we head into this final year of this Daf Yomi cycle, I’m excited to share two new initiatives your gift will help make possible:

1. The Daf Yomi Survival Guide 🧭
A new workshop for communities preparing for the next Daf Yomi cycle. Think of it as a collection of flotation devices for navigating the “Sea of Talmud,” complete with best practices, key terminology, memorable milestones, and hilariously hard-earned lessons from my own Daf Yomi voyage to help keep you on trac(tate!).

I’m fairly confident that no matter how many speakers you’ve heard talk about Talmud at your shul, temple, or JCC, you’ve never had a scholar-in-residence (or, as I prefer, a nerd-in-residence) do it quite like this! 😁 (Link to find out more and book me jewishspeakersbureau.com/speakers/miriam-anzovin)

2. The Library of Daf Reactions 📚
One of the core missions of Daf Reactions is the democratization of Jewish learning. Over the years, I’ve often recommended books and resources that members of this community have wanted to engage with, but couldn’t easily access due to cost or availability.

To help address that, I’m thrilled to be working on The Library of Daf Reactions (or, as I’ll be affectionately calling it, TLDR, hehe) a new initiative created in collaboration with Rabbi Arthur Gould, who shares a deep commitment to this work.

TLDR is designed to connect learners with the books and resources they need to continue their Jewish learning journeys, making access a little more possible and a lot more communal.

More details, including ways to support and utilize the library, will be coming soon!
