The New Haven SDA Church Youth Summit is a event that will occur on November 14 – 28th, 2021. This event is geared toward youth between the ages of 16 years and over. Young persons will be exposed to motivational discussions, presentations, from experts of various fields. Annually, November is recognised as Youth, Parent and Community month. The New Haven Seventh Day Adventist Church will this year host the inaugural Youth Summit, targeting Christian and Non-Christian adolescents ages 16 years and older. As we aim to engage as many adolescents to disconnect with worldly distractions and to reconnect with their church family and God’s work, the Summit is being held under the theme; Disconnect, Reconnect, Now is the Time!
The Summit, one of several initiatives to be undertaken by the Church during November, will be held over a nine day period. The Summit begins with an opening ceremony, segues into relay sessions with a holistic approach over the remaining days and closes with a closing ceremony. The holistic approach being taken will comprise of sessions focused on Youth Health (spiritual, mental and physical), Youth Academics & Career (how to make the right career decision and tracking your path), Youth Vision Boarding, What’s on our Youths Minds? (a discussion on technology and music) and Youth Power Talk. Our hope is that from this Summit, adolescents will reconnect with God’s work by making a personal commitment through baptism and getting involved in Church.
Execution Plan Registration Using Google Form/Eventbrite, participants will be required to register to participate. This allows the committee to have an indication of the number of participants to be accommodated on the platform as well as their contact details for further engagement. Pre recordings To reduce technical glitches and manage production quality, some of the elements of the summit will be pre-recorded and edited. A meeting will be held with the Communications Team to discuss the plans for this event. Youth Summit Booklet This Booklet is similar to an event programme, it gives the participant an idea of what programmes and activities are planned. This will be emailed to all registered participants as an electronic booklet. Promotional Plan Through the Communications Department, flyers and teasers will be designed and disseminated via social media pages-facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp.
Summit Speakers All speakers for this event will be done by the young adults, from planning to execution we believe young people are better engaged when they are among their respective age cohort. The speakers will be briefed that their delivery should be engaging and conversational.
Special Features As we use this Summit to re-engage the youth, we will be doing some special recordings to introduce ways in which they can get involved in Church. This recording will include testimonials from some of our young adults who are active in the various Ministries.
