Aperture Dundee

I just hung the last two test-rolls for the next video to dry. I can’t wait to scan these and share the images. This film is a serious contender for becoming an all-time favourite of mine.

An update on the Aperture Dundee Blog:After it was brought to my attention this morning that the Aperture Dundee blog had been compromised and was being used to display explicit content I took immediate steps to deal with the issue. I’m currently investigating the source of the problem, and am implementing all measures possible to eliminate the threat. I made the decision to take aperturedundee.com offline as I search for a solution.Once again, I sincerely apologise to anyone who came across any unsettling or explicit content on aperturedundee.com as a result of this attack. I want to make it clear that neither I, Noah von Hatten, or anyone involved with the Aperture Dundee channel or blog, were affiliated with the explicit content being displayed, and do not in anyway support or endorse this material. Any such material or content that was being displayed on my website, or in my name, was done WITHOUT my consent, and was the result of an attack from a third-party.I’m currently exploring potential future, more secure hosting partners. I will do my best to keep you updated. Thank you for your patience.

It has been brought to my attention that the Aperture Dundee blog has been compromised, and is currently displaying pop-up ads and redirects to disreputable websites. This was not initiated by me. I’m not in anyway affiliated with the redirects, and do not endorse the content they display. The blog has been compromised by a third-Party. I’m working to resolve the problem as quickly as absolutely possible, and to secure the website. In the meantime, I’ve removed all links and references to the blog from the YouTube channel and videos. I appreciate your patience, and apologise to anyone who may have attempted to visit the website and encountered unsavoury content.

Hey everyone! I'm working on this week's video, and I thought it would be fun if I took a moment in the video to answer some of your questions. Feel free to ask me anything! (literally anything)

I've got an announcement for you all.

I've been thinking that it would be a valuable addition to the video reviews to have the images and the scanned negatives, without corrections applied, be available to you.

That's exaclty that I'm going to do. From now onwards for every film stock review I publish I'm going to make the full-resolution scans, as well as the full resolution raw, .dng scanned negatives (without inversion to positive) available to download. You'll be able to inspect them much more closely this way, zoom in on the scan to see how the grain looks without YouTube compression messing it up, etc. You'll also be able to convert them to positives yourself if you like, see how the scans edit, and so on.

I'll be opening up the negatives to all subscribers of the new newsletter that I've created to accompany the channel. I've attached a link here in-case anyone's interested. thechaoticlensman.com/youtube-signup/

Cheers,
Noah

Three weeks ago Pentax released the second update on their journey towards brining new film cameras on to the market. I’m super exited about this as a long time Pentax fan. Currently my main camera is a Nikon, however, Pentax got me going in the world of analogue photography. That’s my trusty Spotmatic pictured below.

For anyone interested in the Pentax Project you can watch the update here: https://youtu.be/6XKLK1zbCzY

In short, the first camera would seem to have been confirmed to be an „all new“ fixed-lens compact camera. Not really my thing, but an exciting step on the way to hopefully more „new“ cameras. I’m still dreaming of a successor to the LX that you can buy off the shelf brand new. A new 67 would rock too.

If any company can pull off a project like this it’s Pentax. I wish them the best of luck. If anyone of you would be interested in a video about the history of Pentax let me know, I’d love to put one together. It’s a company that’s fascinated me for a long time.

I've got some FOMAPAN 100 loaded in the FM, I've been enjoying shooting some more of this film. I'm probably going to release a video on it in the near future too.

Hello all! I've got a question that I'm curious about.

To all of you how've started shooting film after the digital revolution why? What got you into it?

And to all of you who shot film before digital photography became a thing and decided to keep shooting film after digital took over why did you stick to it?

Hello everyone! I've had to step away for a brief while in order to deal with a work related disaster. Things have more or less cleared up now, and I plan on returning to uploading regularly.

I really appreciate all of the interactions that I've been able to have with you in the mean time, you all rock.

New video on the way now....
