For anybody who wants to listen to Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War of the Worlds: Generations off YouTube, here is a Google Drive link. There are also a couple of bonus tracks too, experiments done while mixing this version.
I've been busy working on Generations 2026. There is currently only 5 tracks left to do, not including the Highlights - 3 for Act 1, and 2 for Act 2. Just the change on every single track so far to Richard Burton has changed the feel in what I feel is the best possible way.
My next move for Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War of the Worlds: Generations will be happening in 2026 - I will be looking to replace all of Liam Neeson's monologue and dialogue with Richard Burton's.
Well, today had an unexpected announcement: a smaller-scale concert-style tour for The War of the Worlds, stripping away a lot of the bells and whistles of the modern show and going right back to its roots. Jeff Wayne won't be condducting it either. It also claims to go right back to the 1978 album, which is something the show hasn't even really done properly since the pre-2012 shows.
I doubt this means the end of the Jeff Wayne-led Alive on Stage tours, I expect he still has a big hand in this new tour, nevertheless, this is a most intriguing development. I'm wondering if the intent is to set the stage for Jeff Wayne eventually retiring himself, or perhaps he likes the idea of having a more 1978 album-focused tour running alongside his own.
I'm going to take a guess that this new Deluxe Edition for Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of the War of the Worlds doesn't actually offer anything new at all. That's a real shame. This would have been an awesome opportunity to put out a few things never released before on CD, such as Life Begins Again, the 2022 Forever Autumn, and maybe outtakes from the 2012 remix as well as the 'audition pieces' for the various shows across the years. I would also have hoped for a version that reflects changes made to the material since 2012 (which is reflected in the audiobook, BTW)
Never mind. I still have my own takes on the material to satisfy me in the form of The First Generation and Generations. Speaking of, I recently pushed an updated version of Generations to the folder, too: drive.google.com/drive/folders/18Qdjs1Q8pe180vAa7P…
New versions of Forever Autumn, Thunder Child, and Dead London (Part 2) are now live on the Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War Of The Worlds - The First Generation Archive. I have also moved Post-Show, which has now been edited slightly, to the end of Act 2.

Do you think I should include The Prequel at the start of my War of the Worlds: Generations program?
