I officially don't like July. things always get derailed sideways.

Yesterday took care of a family emergency (everything is okay). Today, bay 2 on the Qidi box v2 decided it had enough and the other tube that is fed from the extruder to the outside world dislodged itself, got chewed up by gears, and ruined 1 meter of filament. I just wanted to test everything to make sure that the printer is good to go after fixing the filament sensor....

I wish I could afford taking a break. I will avoid qidi equipment from this point on without a second thought.

I fixed the filament sensor by making a custom .1mm washer. I probably could thin it out to .05mm for an even better fit. it's got one more test print to go before I feel the repair is done.

The Q2C does not have a full metal extruder nor is there one available. Not something I'd recommend, but learned something since getting back into FDM. If things work out, I may look into designing a full metal one so I don't have to worry about plastic gears wearing out.

started reworking ceph for docker instead of podman and fixed up cockpit and xrdp too. There's a problem when installing ceph 19.2.2 where permissions aren't set properly which is probably the root amongst the issues overall. There's also redundant logrotate issues where you need to remove the cephadm logger because it's making duplicates other ceph loggers make.

many days of things not working, but finally something is. the qidi q2c is alive, it prints, and I can use it again! the replacement extruder and nozzle did the trick. I think it was the extruder that went bad. a little weird for such little usage.

the pi router can now get a new shell - not to mention it's working now too!

ceph is taking years off my life. it's just not working and something keeps the OSDs busy. I HAVEN'T GOTTEN TO MAKE A FILESYSTEM YET RAGEY! I really want ceph to work for so many things...

It's the weekend!

Ceph has 2 OSDs, my readynas got its drive bikes and ceph absorbed it. next is making preps to get Debian on the old readynas with no video out before adding it to the cluster.

the pi router is working and ordered parts for the final radio

qidi sent replacement parts, got em installed, filament sensor want to stay wiggly, and waiting feedback before running a job

got parts from digikey so the bodge test before new boards for the NES are ordered.

after a shit week, good news! the new boards are in and they're looking fire!! the fingers are looking like they should and the white is nice. got mistake on the back silk screen - should be ® and not TM

The new WiiU dock mod board looks nice for a V2, and the fit is even better with the new arrangement!

learned a lot about CEPH, a chunk of openwrt, and chunks of Debian

Qidi support seemed to ignore the experiment and completely ignored my request about firmware to reflash the unit from the sync issue I pointed out.

so far, I'm thinking I may have chosen poorly for a 3D printer supplier of support is ignoring what I'm doing to help troubleshoot the issue.

I'll get to comments tonight or tomorrow. I'm being driven mad by CEPH being a pain to set up on Debian as the installer package doesn't check if the libraries it depends on are installed and install them if missing - doesn't even tell you if something is missing to manually install later. get errors, stumble, see what's missing, install, try again, repeat. Also, you can't easily remove a storage node which doesn't make sense to unmount things. Also ssh is being a pain between it and the Ubuntu pi nodes when they have the certs. ABSOLUTE MADNESS

Then there's the Q2C... nothing but a pain in the ass to trouble shoot it despite supports attempts to figure something out as so far, I've just been given gcode to run. giving me gcode to run on something not related to gcode isn't gonna help!

This extreme heat is insane. There's the fireworks, but high humidity all day and night, and temps above 90 all day and in the 80s at night - yeah no... Idk how they haven't rescheduled it bro.

New response from Qidi ignored one of my first statements on the issue of 'issue it happens with all the bays' and now wanting to vent the box by opening the glass doors - yes, I would love the VOCs freely in my lungs mmmm yummy! I KNOW they're floating despite the internal air filter and my own HEPA air purifier; just don't need them need more roaming free - I think I have enough microplastics in me to become a superhero. I'm starting to doubt their effectiveness and listening skills ngl the problem also occurs in manual feeding, but there's no clogs and unit can purge.

gonna keep working on the things to get ceph going and the router. vids ofc delayed from all of this.
