We haven’t toured in a couple of years, and truthfully, we still have a lot of work ahead of us before we’re ready to properly hit the road again. We’re working on a new album, we have a new song called “Our Year” coming out this Friday, and we’re still decompressing from a very busy couple of decades.
But when the opportunity came up to support @HilaryDuff next year, we had to jump on it. Hilary Duff is an icon. Obviously we said yes. This is what dreams are made of!
We’re also very excited to see Dashboard Confessional and Rebecca Black are doing dates too. If only all of us could play the same ones! We’re big fans.
These are the first shows we’re putting on the calendar, with lots more touring to come around the new album next year. After all these years, it’s still incredibly exciting, and a little nerve-wracking, to walk onto a stage in front of a new audience and earn their attention and applause. But we love doing it.

One is a band shirt, and the other is inspired by Georgia. (Tegan's dog) The song is not about her specifically, but over the last six years, she’s made Tegan see the city and experience it in ways she never would have otherwise. So obviously, we had to create a shirt to honor Georgia.
I’m sure you’ve all seen the memes about dogs looking so happy when their owners take them outside. You know the ones that say something like, “That walk you don’t want to go on? That’s their favorite time of day.” Yeah. That became my whole life six years ago when I got a Border Collie German Shepherd. If you know you know.
So shout out to Georgia, for helping Tegan get her steps in, see more of the world, and ignite extreme anxiety in her, inspiring her to make music again.

“Our Year” features our friends and fellow Canadians@lights and @felixcartal The four of us are all West Coast-based, and the inspiration for the song came from our messy relationship with this beautiful city we call home, this beautiful part of the world we choose to live in, and this complicated, sometimes deeply frustrating job we all have.
But more broadly, “Our Year” is about the exasperation of watching another year get away from you, mixed with the slightly delusional but very real hope that maybe this year really might be your year.
You’ve given us so much over the years, and it feels exciting to celebrate this big day by sharing something new with you. A little thank you for all the years you’ve given us. TWENTY-EIGHT of them in this wild business of ours. Hard to believe, but we are immensely grateful to still be making things together and still getting to share them with you.
