Stroll SET for GT3 Debut at Paul Ricard!

First Max Verstappen… now Lance Stroll!

2026 now sees TWO Current F1 Drivers doing SportsCar Racing, as the current Aston Martin F1 Team driver is set to make his GT3 debut at Paul Ricard, competing in the GT World Challenge Europe season opener behind the wheel of an Aston Martin Vantage GT3 EVO.

Stroll’s last endurance racing appearance came back in 2018 at the Rolex 24 at Daytona, where he raced in LMP2 for Jackie Chan DC Racing.

For 2026, he’ll take on the six-hour race on April 11th with Comtoyou Racing, which is entering a fourth Vantage for the event. Stroll will share the car with Aston Martin Academy driver Mari Boya and Ex-F1 driver for Manor, Roberto Merhi.

The Canadian already has solid experience at Paul Ricard, having raced there multiple times in Formula 1 during the French Grand Prix era at Le Castellet. His best results at the circuit were P10 finishes in both 2021 and 2022.

The No. 17 GMR-001 will carry this striking new look as Genesis Magma Racing reveals its official 2026 color scheme, marking the start of an exciting new chapter for the team.

Set to debut at the WEC season opener in Italy for the 6 Hours of Imola, the No. 17 entry boasts a star-studded lineup, featuring two-time IMSA champion Pipo Derani, three-time overall Le Mans winner André Lotterer, and rising French talent Mathys Jaubert.

Luc Donckerwolke, President and Chief Creative Officer of the Hyundai Motor Group, shared insight into the design process:

“The design work began during our very first test at Circuit Paul Ricard in August, where we had a fully exposed carbon fiber car as our canvas.
Applying our ‘athletic elegance’ design philosophy, we focused on enhancing the natural shape of the GMR-001 Hypercar, while highlighting key elements such as the Two-Line headlights and the signature parabolic body line.”
