Honda to Join WEC Hypercar in 2027? 👀🤞
Honda is heavily rumored to be on the brink of announcing an expansion into the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2027, marking a potential comeback to the 24 Hours of Le Mans with a factory-supported partner team for a Hypercar program.
The Japanese manufacturer is already competing at the top level of endurance racing in IMSA’s GTP class, fielding two Acura ARX-06 entries with Meyer Shank Racing. But now, Honda is believed to be exploring an expansion of that effort into WEC, this time racing under the Honda banner.
Polish outfit Inter Europol Competition has emerged as the leading candidate to run the program. The team is widely regarded as one of the strongest LMP2 operations in the world, highlighted by Le Mans class victories in 2023 and 2025.
While multiple credible sources have pointed toward this possibility, it’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time Honda has been linked to a WEC return. Still though, optimism is growing that these rumors may finally become reality.
If confirmed, Honda’s return to Le Mans with the proven ARX-06 platform would be a major boost for the Hypercar grid, and another huge win for endurance racing fans!

Chevrolet and Ford Go Full-Time in IGTC!
Six manufacturers are now CONFIRMED for the 2026 Intercontinental GT Challenge season, kicking off with the Meguiar’s Bathurst 12 Hour on February 13–15.
American power is officially back on the world stage, as Chevrolet and Ford join BMW, Ferrari, Mercedes-AMG, and Porsche as registered IGTC manufacturers. This marks the largest full manufacturer lineup since 2020, when Audi, Aston Martin, BMW, Bentley, Ferrari, Honda, Mercedes-AMG, and Porsche all went head-to-head.

The SC63 Program Isn’t Over Yet 👀
According to an article written for SportsCar365 by John Dagys, Lamborghini is looking toward a potential return to prototype racing, with as many as five to six partners expressing interest in running the SC63 program.
The Ligier-chassis LMDh competed from 2024 through 2025 before Lamborghini placed the project on pause for 2026. The SC63 received a joker update for its final IMSA GTP appearances in 2025 and came agonizingly close to a podium finish at Petit Le Mans, ultimately finishing fourth overall, just six minutes shy of the podium.
In an interview with Lamborghini motorsport boss Rouven Mohr, it was revealed that a return as early as 2027 is possible, depending on how the new Temerario GT3 is introduced and develops in sports car racing. Additionally, growing interest from potential partner teams could open the door not only to an IMSA GTP comeback, but even a WEC Hypercar return if everything progresses smoothly.

3 IN A ROW FOR PORSCHE! 🤯🔥
Porsche Penske Motorsport took the No. 7 Porsche 963 to victory lane for the third consecutive time at the 2026 Rolex 24 at Daytona.
Felipe Nasr, Julien Andlauer, and Laurin Heinrich secured the overall win after Nasr successfully defended a late charge from the No. 31 Whelen Cadillac, while the No. 24 BMW M Hybrid V8 from WRT completed the overall podium.
In LMP2, victory went to CrowdStrike Racing by APR with the No. 04 Oreca 07, driven by George Kurtz, Malthe Jakobsen, Alex Quinn, and Toby Sowery.
Paul Miller Racing claimed a phenomenal first Daytona win in the GTD Pro class with the No. 1 BMW M4 GT3 EVO. The victory was earned by Connor De Phillippi, Neil Verhagen, Max Hesse, and Dan Harper.
In GTD, Winward Racing captured its third Rolex 24 victory with the No. 57 Mercedes-AMG GT3 after an incredible battle with Magnus Racing’s Aston Martin Vantage. The winning lineup featured Russell Ward, Philip Ellis, Indy Dontje, and Lucas Auer.
What an IMSA event to kick off the 2026 season.

Chip Ganassi Racing has long been synonymous with the 01 in sports car racing, and their second-to-last overall triumph at Daytona came in 2013 with the No. 01 Riley Mk.XXVI.
The win was sealed by an all-star lineup of Charlie Kimball, Juan Pablo Montoya, Scott Pruett, and Memo Rojas. The victory was especially historic for Pruett, who captured his fifth overall Rolex 24 win, tying the all-time record held by Hurley Haywood, another five-time Daytona winner.

Cadillac LOSES Pole ➡️ Acura Promoted to P1
Action Express Racing’s No. 31 Cadillac has been stripped of its pole position after failing IMSA’s post-qualifying inspection, with the rear skid block found outside the permitted tolerance.
As a result, the Whelen Engineering Cadillac will now start 11th overall and last in GTP, promoting Renger van der Zande and Acura to pole position.
Van der Zande originally qualified second with a 1:34.041 in the No. 93 Acura ARX-06, and now with the Dutch driver’s car being promoted to pole, this hands Meyer Shank Racing their first Daytona pole since 2023, the same year they went on to win the Rolex 24, marking Acura’s most recent victory at the Speedway.
One thing’s for sure… the 2026 Rolex 24 just got a whole lot spicier. 🔥🏁
