Hi all,

So there has been a bit of a mix-up regarding some of the VST vs. OG synth comparison videos. In fact far more than I could have possibly anticipated. Still you live and hopefully learn and I will certainly make additional effort to ensure that there is less confusion if I ever do one of these again.

In this post I wanted to address questions related to reverb i.e. is there any, is it the same reverb type and amount for both synths. I've not worked on the video for 2 and a half years, so I was struggling to bring back the details and had to dig out the original recordings (Fortunately I'm quite organised with that sort of stuff).

1) the first photo shows that there is "a little reverb" on the sound.

2) This pic shows the reverb type. I picked this one as it doesn't sound modern it's pretty basic, so suits the era of the original synth.

3) this pick shows the 2 tracks at the same level accessing the same reverb via the group. Each track was bounced separately and then they were edited into the video.

I hope that helps.

I've had a bit of a studio reorganisation. I got rid of the mixers and broke out the ADAT input box. It does mean that all external jams have to go through the computer now, but I never do that anyway. It is nice to have a decluttered workspace and I'm down to doing the last track on the new album! Just need to stop the cat getting in here and knocking the sound interfaces of the speaker.

So following up on the Roland SC-55 sound demo, I have completed the SC-88. This unit was released around 3 years later and is a significant improvement in sound quality. It also has the added bonus of including the original SC-55 sounds.

Here's a music video based on a trip to Tunisia I took back in march. Essentially a holiday video, with a track. FYI, no machine intelligences were exploited in the making of this work!

Accidental seasonal colour match on this most recent one.

Whilst fixing this CD player the internal algorithm knocked out this instant remix! I was instantly whisked back to the '90s where sitting in a bar you could often be treated to similar impromptu performances, these could go on for hours!

Here's something I've been thinking about for a while.

It was a good trip but it's taken me all week to recover.
