Thorpe Park have just confirmed that their iconic roller coaster, Stealth, will close permanently at the end of the 2026 season, marking exactly 20 years since the ride first launched.

In a statement released this morning, a Thorpe Park spokesperson said:

“Stealth has been an incredible part of our history, but as we look ahead to the future of the park, we are constantly evolving our attraction line-up. While it’s never easy to say goodbye to such a legendary ride, we’re excited for what comes next.”

The park has confirmed that plans are already underway for a “next-generation rollercoaster experience” to replace Stealth, although no further details have been announced at this time.

Guests will have until the end of the 2026 season to experience Stealth one final time.

Further updates will be shared via Thorpe Park’s official channels.

Following my recent visit to Thorpe Park Resort, I took some time to check on the former site of Rumba Rapids, which has now permanently closed. The area is currently fenced off, with a secured access gate in place for park staff. All ride signage has been removed, giving the space a noticeably stripped-back appearance.

It also appears that a tree within the area has either fallen or been deliberately cleared, further suggesting early stages of site work. All of the ride’s boats have been relocated to Swarm Island, with the exception of two that remain in the area for reasons that are currently unclear.

Notably, it also appears that someone has left flowers along with a card in tribute to this once much-loved Thorpe Park attraction, which had been operating at the resort since 1987.

As of now, there has been no planning permission submitted for the demolition of the ride.
Overall, the site is clearly in transition, with visible signs that preparation work is already underway.

It was fantastic to return to Thorpe Park yesterday for opening day.

The park had a brilliant atmosphere throughout, and it was great to be back experiencing the rides and energy of the resort once again.

To top off an excellent day, we finished with a front row ride on Hyperia, the UK’s tallest and fastest roller coaster - a perfect way to end the visit.

Looking forward to many more visits this season.

What a day at Thorpe Park for Passholder Day! 🎢🔥

Everything today was honestly incredible. Ride availability was amazing, operations were running perfectly, and queue times were so good all day. There was little to no downtime on any of the rides, which made such a huge difference and meant we got so much done.

Huge credit to all the staff as well – everyone was working so hard and really made the whole experience even better 🙌

And such a nice surprise seeing the park extend opening hours from 11:00–17:00 to 10:30–18:00 👏 that extra time really topped off an already perfect day.

This is 100% the best Merlin park right now, no question.

We can’t wait to be back at the resort again next week! 🔥🎢

OMG you guys 😱 it’s been 5 MONTHS but we’re finally going back to Thorpe Park tomorrow for Passholder Day!! 🎢💥

We are sooo ready to hit all the rides, scream on The Island like no other, and just have the most insane day ever! 🌊🔥 Can’t wait to see other passholders there too – it’s gonna be chaos, laughs, and pure fun all day 😎🎡
