Be careful Dear Career Mom, some wrong offers wear the robe of favour

Ever made a career move that looked perfect?

It looked like everything you prayed for… until you got in and started asking yourself, “How did I get here?”.
Your peace left. Your joy started leaking. You knew it was not what it claimed to be.

Lot can relate.

When he and Abraham agreed to part ways, Lot looked at the lush plains of Sodom and Gomorrah and thought, “This is it!”, “I have finally arrived”, “The greener pastures I have been waiting for”.

The opportunity looked like everything he’d prayed for.
But the land that looked promising brought more trouble than he bargained for.

That’s how some career decisions show up.

You take that “dream job” only to discover it’s not what it looked like from the outside. Shiny paycheck, fancy title, and amazing perks but with a touch of toxic culture, no growth, evident inner unrest and serious misalignment with what God had said about you.

The grass was not greener on the other side after all🥹

I’d say this to you for free,

Please don’t chase the shiny at the expense of your peace🙏🏽
Take some time to reflect before making that decision,
“Does this align with my values and who I am becoming?”
“Am I choosing real growth, or just running from discomfort?”
“Is God in this opportunity with me?”

Just like Lot, the most attractive option may not always be the one that will grow you.

Be intentional. Be discerning. Choose with your future in mind.

Let God be in the room with you.

Have you ever made a career move that taught you this lesson the hard way?
Please share it in the comments.

You story might just be Lot’s wake-up call for someone else this week.

There are some doors you don’t walk through because you feel ready, you walk through because you’ve been assigned

I was three months pregnant with my third child in 2021.

It wasn’t the kind of pregnancy that lets you glow and go about your day smiling.
This one came with nausea that lingered like a cloud. Fatigue that stayed in my bones. Some mornings, I’d lie in bed and whisper, “Lord, help me through just today.”

Then came the DM.

It was from a CEO of a healthcare organisation in Lagos.

She had followed my Instagram page and had resonated with my posts when I had barely 100 followers. This was when the HR in healthcare mandate was only a whisper.

She said,
“We’d love you to come train our staff.”

And I just stared.

Because in that moment, I did not feel strong enough to reply, much less go anywhere to teach anybody.

But I knew my feelings were not the core, It was what I carried.

So, I said yes. I was sent for this mandate.

On the day of the training, as soon as I entered their facility, the first thing I saw on their wall was this bold inscription:

“NOTHING WILL WORK UNLESS YOU DO.”

This was my story staring at me. I had to take a picture before I left.
I was in pain… but I moved.
I was unknown… but I moved.
I was uncomfortable… but I moved.

And guess what?

That one moment, the obedience, the movement, the “yes” in the middle of discomfort has opened many doors for me.

I look back now and realise that sometimes, God does not wait for your energy to align before He calls you to move and work.

He calls you tired.
He calls you unsure.
He calls you nauseous and unfiltered and human.

But He calls. And your obedience unlocks what strength alone never could.

As we prepare to enter the second half of the year, I don’t know what your own assignment looks like.
Maybe you are still in hiding.
Maybe you are waiting to feel stronger, more confident, more qualified, more “ready.”

But….

What if God is waiting on your movement, not your perfection?
What if now, even tired… is the right time to move and work???

Just what if?

What is one thing you are holding back from, because the timing feels too inconvenient or your strength feels too low?

At the end of the day, we are Mothers doing Career😁 #careermoms

“You hurt my feelings.”

That was what my first son told me a while ago, a moment that has truly shaped my motherhood journey.

He was on one of his usual “mobile sprees.”
You know those childhood adventures where they are half-running, half-flying through the house?
In the middle of it all, he slipped and fell.
Nothing serious. But I chuckled. Just a small giggle, out of that classic Nigerian-mother reflex that screams, “Didn’t I warn you?!!!!!!!”

About 20 minutes later, he walked up to me and said quietly,
“Mummy, you hurt my feelings.”

Me? How? When?
A rush of questions flew out of my mouth.
I honestly did not remember what had happened, so I asked,
“How did I hurt you?”

He replied,
“You did not tell me sorry when I fell.”

Ah! I was humbled, and in awe.
The clarity of his emotional honesty…and the realization that I had to push pride aside and listen.

So I drew him close and said,
“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have laughed at you. But please, don’t run like that again. Be more careful while you play.”
I hugged him.
And just like that, he went back, ready to resume more gentle adventures this time.

He could have sulked.
But instead, he expressed how I made him feel, calmly, boldly, kindly.
That was a learning moment for me though🥹😁

Our children may be little, but their hearts? Very big.
They may not speak our “adult language,” but they feel deeply.
And they are always watching, learning how to love, forgive, and express emotion by watching how we do it.

As a career mom, I have come to understand that presence is not just physical.
It is emotional.
It is being observant.
It is making space for their voices to matter, even in the middle of all our meetings, deadlines, school runs, cooking, and laundry piles and so much more.

Being a present mom especially as a career mom is not about perfection but being intentional.

So this Children’s Day, I am not just celebrating the blessings God has given us in our children…
I am celebrating the lessons they teach me also.

Lessons on emotional intelligence.
Lessons on humility.
Lessons on love.

Because, dear career mom, between the boardroom and your everyday deliverables, you are raising future leaders, by how you show up today.

So show up. And do it well.
Let your children know they are deeply loved.

Please share with us, what lessons have you also learnt from your child(ren) - consciously or not?
The comment section is open . All career moms, gather here please 😁

This evening, as I listened to my kids excitedly debate over which Bible story to watch on my laptop, I heard something so clearly in my spirit.

“How long will this continue?”

I knew this was for someone so, I grabbed my phone and began to type because I knew God was leading me to post this.

You are asking,

‘How long will I keep putting my life on hold because of motherhood?’
How long will I keep showing up with no “viral results” to show for it?
How long will I keep clapping for others while no one seems to notice me?’

The Holy Spirit impressed this clearly on my heart for someone. And if that someone is you, hear this,

God says, ‘be encouraged’

📌 Motherhood is a season, not a prison. It is not here to erase your dreams but to refine them. Your purpose didn’t disappear when you became a mother, it is still alive, even in the moments of changing diapers, fixing meals, and whispering bedtime prayers. You are walking in purpose, even now. You are not just waiting, you are BECOMING.

And if you have been showing up faithfully with no viral results. Listen, visibility is not the only proof of success. The real question is, ‘why do you do what you do?’. God sees your labor, and nothing done in obedience to Him is ever wasted. If your why is anchored in God, then trust that your consistency is not in vain.

Now, about the applause… Sis, your turn will come. But don’t wait for the claps before you celebrate others. Keep sowing, keep applauding, keep being faithful in your lane. God is the lifter of men. He lifts from the dust and sets on high (Psalm 113:7-8). At the right time, He will lift you too. He sees you.

So, as this first quarter draws to an end, realign, but don’t drop the ball. If you need to adjust the plan, do it. Don’t let discouragement silence you.

Get up, take your bed, and walk.

The joy of the Lord is your strength.

Keep moving. Keep trusting.

If this spoke to you, let me know in the comments.

I’m praying for you. ❤️

You might be the reason you are still stuck

Are you truly stuck, or are you standing in your own way?

I have seen it over and over again - smart, hardworking women with years of experience, results to show, and the ability to manage their homes, careers, businesses and life seamlessly- who suddenly start believing they are not good enough.

And do you know why?

Because they lack one thing. Maybe a certification, a high-paying job title, external validation, a “perfect” career path, or trending business idea

While that missing thing may have its place. Let me tell you the truth - it is not the ONLY thing standing between you and the next level.

Before you convince yourself that “If I don’t have this or that, I cannot move forward,” ask yourself these👇🏼

- Have I truly maximized the knowledge, skills, and experiences I already have?

- Do I believe more in these limitation than in my potential?

- Am I waiting for the ‘perfect’ moment while time keeps moving?

- If someone else had my exact skills and experience, would they be stuck, or am I the one keeping myself here?

If you answered these questions sincerely, then why are you acting like you have nothing to offer?

Before I stop, work on these 5 areas because they will change your life

1. Your confidence - Own your story and what you bring to the table.

2. Positioning - Stop hiding! Let people see the value you carry.

3. Self-Investment - Upgrade your skills, mindset, and exposure.

4. Action Over Perfection - Take the next step even if you don’t feel ‘ready.’

5. Community - Surround yourself with the right people who challenge and support your growth.

You are not empty.
You are not unqualified.
You are not at zero.

Step out of your own way.

Place value on what you already have, and let the world see it.

Did this touch you?
Then it’s time to stop keeping yourself stuck.

What’s the biggest lie that has kept you stuck?

What do you do when your toddler does not take you seriously? 😅

I used to think that just saying “Stop that!” or “Don’t do that!” was enough, until my toddler looked me straight in the eyes, smiled, and continued like I was saying, “Well done, my dear!”🤣
This was my first son at age 2. Along the ‘motherhood way’, I began to learn.

I learnt that HOW you say what you say is really important.

See ehn, toddlers do not come pre-installed with the ability to decode your face📌
You tell them “Don’t climb that table!” but your face is soft, or worse, you are smiling. My sister, they will climb it ten more times. You know what I’m saying 🤣

So with our ‘woman king’, I had learnt this. I make sure my voice and face speak the same language always. If I was serious, my face had to match my words. And guess what? It worked! Now, when she sees my serious face, she knows, “Mommy is not playing!” and she aligns accordingly. Please don’t be inconsistent with your discipline measure🤣

We all know the word of God is our utmost parenting guide. Let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.” Mar 5:37. This speaks directly to being clear, consistent, and truthful in communication. If you say “No” but your face says “Yes,” it sends mixed signals. Let you little one know who you are 😁

It’s funny as I type this because these children are way smarter than we think.

Parenting is a journey, and I am still learning in every way I can. But this one tip I just shared? Game changer ni!

Can you relate with me?😁

THE CHILD IN THE ‘BOTTLE’ (Please read carefully)

It’s my birthday today, and my heart overflows with gratitude. Truly, God has been the God of my journey.

I was born at 28 weeks, a tiny, fragile baby they called ‘the child in a bottle.’ I fought for every breath, but it was God’s hand that kept me. The odds were against me. But God, my ever-present help, rewrote my story. I was not just kept alive to survive, I was preserved to BECOME.

From that incubator to impact. From the NICU to nations. From a premature baby to a nurturer of people. My life is proof that when God writes your story, no limitation can hold you down.

Every season of my life has been marked by His faithfulness. It has been God all the way.

I have tasted and still enjoying His lifting.
I am walking in His grace.
And through it all, I have learned this - “God truly makes something beautiful out of what seems too small to matter”.

Today, I celebrate more than my birth, I celebrate the God of my becoming. The One who saw that tiny girl in the incubator and said, ‘There is more!’ The One who turned my battles into a blessing and my story into a signpost of His goodness.

My heart is full.
I say yes to the new chapters, new dimensions, and even more of God’s glory ahead. My life is His testimony, and I am here to keep nurturing, building, and impacting, because with Him, the best is always yet to come.

Happy Birthday to me. Indeed, see what the Lord has done🥹🙌🏼

You are not confused, and you are not doing too much.

This is for the multipassionate woman, the one with many gifts

For a long time, I struggled with how to express all that I am and do. If you check my last post, you will see a glimpse of that journey. Since childhood, I have always had multiple interests, yet the world often labels people like us as ‘confused’ or ‘all over the place.’

But let me ask you, ‘who made you?’

God did not make a mistake by giving you diverse passions. While streamlining can bring stability and growth, there is absolutely nothing wrong with embracing all that God has placed inside of you. With His wisdom, you can find balance and focus without losing your essence.

I’d like you to take a cue from the parable of the talents, each person was given according to their ability, and the one who buried his ONE talent lost it. Your gifts are meant to make room for you, to open doors, and to bless others.

So no, you are not confused. It is okay to have many passions. It is okay to explore them all, if you can.

Because 👇🏼

God’s gifts and His call are irrevocable. [He never withdraws them when once they are given, and He does not change His mind about those to whom He gives His grace or to whom He sends His call.]
‭‭Romans‬ ‭11‬:‭29‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

Embrace all that God has made you to be.

Did this post help you in anyway?

That career gap on your CV? It’s not the end of your career.

I understand this so well because I was once there. After 4 years away from the corporate world, choosing to focus on my growing family and business, I found myself staring at my CV, wondering how I’d explain that gap.

It was not like I was idle, but my experience felt so different from where I wanted to go next. But I knew I could not stay stuck, so I took action.

If you are worried that your career break will hold you back, especially if you are transitioning into a new field, please don’t write yourself off. You can still make a powerful comeback.

These are the things I did to prepare myself for reentry:

1. connected with the right people. I humbled myself and reached out to those who could guide me.

2. I invested in growth. I enrolled in workplace readiness training, got recommended for opportunities, and found a mentor who helped shape my path.

3. I sharpened my skills. I focused on emotional intelligence, time management, communication, and tech skills that would work in any industry.

4. I embraced volunteering. I took up roles to rebuild my confidence and gain fresh experience.

5. I learned from those ahead of me. I worked closely with an HR leader, learning practical skills like organization and project management.

6. And the most important step? I laid myself before God and trusted Him completely. I prayed, meditated on His Word, and went on personal retreats.

The journey back does not have to be complicated. Take intentional steps, stay committed, and trust God to lead you through.

Feeling lost? A career coach can help you gain clarity and direction.

If you want a more detailed breakdown, check out my YouTube video on my channel THRIVE WITH SEUN. The title is “How to Get Back to Work after a Career Break”. Posted it 3 months ago
