If one has said absolutely nothing for any oppressed people and only taken the middle fence approach because that feels "safe", then they should not be surprised when the oppressors eventually come after your home too. I assure you, if oppressors believe you have some sort of resource (natural or man-made), they will take it by force.

2026 - To My Wonderful Subscribers

I want to wish you all a wonderful New Year and to thank you so much for being part of this channel and community. I spent some time these past couple of days reading over your comments under my videos. I appreciate them all and thank you for helping to grow this channel - and me especially - over the past couple of years.

I hoped to hit 3000 subscribers by New Year’s Day. At the time of posting this, I am 13 subscribers away from this. But that’s ok.

In this world today, we tend to measure our lives by numbers, grades, degrees, job titles, property prices, investments, bonds, cars etc etc, and now, by social media followers.

Although these figures give a quick snapshot of our lives, they do not measure our value. They are only a tiny pixel in a much bigger picture of our lives. We are not defined by these numbers - big or small; high or low. Numbers are as fickle as the UK weather, or the Singapore rain.

They will never tell the story of one’s sleepless nights spent earning a qualification. Or the promotions that went to someone else, less qualified. Or the disrespect we endured for fear of losing everything we worked for. There are so many ways we all hurt and experience injustices in this world.

I hope that when you see my <3000 subscribers and watch my videos, you see not just me, but others too. Their struggles, their hard work, their humanity. More than anything, I hope that you also find yourself in them too.

I pray that as the New Year is lit up with fireworks across the world, we also remember that many people’s New Year will be lit up with bombs and gunfire.

We have to remember that we are them, and they are us.

Sometimes I return to Rachel Corrie’s 1990 speech at the Press Conference on World Hunger - she was just 10 years old. She was a remarkable human being who went to Palestine to help in the most ordinary, human way she knew how—by washing dishes. While trying to prevent Israel from bulldozing a Palestinian home and forcing a family off their land, she was killed. No, murdered.

We have to understand that she is us, and we are her.

I hope that in 2026 we will further unite for the world we all truly deserve to live in: peaceful, loving, green. Because the numbers that truly matter are: 9 billion human beings, 1.1 billion living in poverty, half a billion living amid war, conflict, apartheid, and genocide—and only 1 Earth.

I hope 2025 treated you well and I wish for 2026 to be even better.
