Champion of Hip Hop culture through the art of storytelling | Rap Artist | Writer | Filmmaker |
Descendent is a champion of black culture, at home and abroad. Through songwriting and filmmaking, the Harlem-based MC seeks to illuminate and celebrate the cultural strength of the Pan-African diaspora, specifically of African American art. Starting from his hometown of Newport News, Virginia, he dives into the roots of African American storytelling: music and oral history. They become his vehicle to not only remember the history of his ancestors but also connect with the communities around him.
He believes that through history, African Americans can liberate themselves creatively and financially. And furthermore, that it can relate to African people worldwide. He follows in the footsteps of his Hip-Hop forefathers. Both musicians such as Mos Def and Tupac, but also directors like John Singleton and Spike Lee. He invites you to join him on this journey.

‘Keep Going’ is out now! 🎵🔥
Appreciate everyone who showed love on the snippets before the official release. This song means a lot to me, especially after everything that went into the marathon and the hurdles since.

Whether it’s the miles behind you, the weight in front of you, or the justice we’re still marching for—one thing remains the same: We. Keep. Going. 🗣️🔥
I wrote this song for every person out there refusing to back down. Whether you’re training for a marathon, hitting a new PR in the gym, or standing on the front lines for what’s right, "Keep Going" is the fuel for your fire.
My new single "Keep Going" drops everywhere April 1st. 🗓️
It’s more than a song; it’s the mindset. Let’s make some noise.

5 years since "Outta My Face" dropped (2021). 🗓️ We filmed this during a wild time in the world, but the vision never wavered. To every creator out there: see it through. No matter the circumstances, make your reality.
I’m grateful this record is still reaching new ears in this "microwave" era. Real connection > everything. ✊🏾

It all started with one line: “Not a thug, or pimp, or nigga, I’m king, crown!” 👑
When I wrote the song “Crown,” I didn’t know those words would end up on the backs of my community. I started wearing the prototype at shows and on the street, and the energy was instant. People didn’t just see a shirt; they saw a boundary being drawn in the sand.
I heard the ladies loud and clear, too. I sat down with the women in my life—family and friends—to make sure the Queen tees carried that same power without losing the message. We chose to cross out the slurs to make room for the truth.
For the Centennial Anniversary of Black History Month, I’m bringing these back. In a world that still tries to dehumanize us (swipe to the end to see @repalgreen reminding them), we have to wear our identity out loud.

🔥 Great things start in little rooms. 🔥
Andre 3000 said it best, and we proved it Friday night. In this era where "perception is reality" and numbers often overshadow impact, we chose genuine connection.
Big love to the incredible @durieuxmusic and @AyannaTheSinger for collaborating with me to make our Friday Finish Line Concert an intimate, high-impact musical experience. We're not selling out arenas yet, but building a community with people who care about great music first is how we get there. That connection is everything.
A massive shout out to the band who brought the absolute fire: Justin on drums, Takashi on bass, and Basil on keys. You turned a room full of strangers into a room full of new fans—thank you for making the performance energetic and inspiring!
Thank you, Jar Studios, for opening your space to us. 🙏
