Champion of Hip Hop culture through the art of storytelling | Rap Artist | Writer | Filmmaker |
Descendent is a champion of black culture, at home and abroad. Through songwriting and filmmaking, the Harlem-based MC seeks to illuminate and celebrate the cultural strength of the Pan-African diaspora, specifically of African American art. Starting from his hometown of Newport News, Virginia, he dives into the roots of African American storytelling: music and oral history. They become his vehicle to not only remember the history of his ancestors but also connect with the communities around him.
He believes that through history, African Americans can liberate themselves creatively and financially. And furthermore, that it can relate to African people worldwide. He follows in the footsteps of his Hip-Hop forefathers. Both musicians such as Mos Def and Tupac, but also directors like John Singleton and Spike Lee. He invites you to join him on this journey.

To say I had fun at my birthday/last show would be an understatement!
These photos capture me in my element on stage, giving the audience energy and some of the peeps who attended after the show was over. I am grateful to everyone who came out to enjoy the concert. This is what it means to create a community around your music.
Special shout out to my DJ @KingJohn-iLL ! BTS footage of my show coming up next!

The love is authentic when your community comes together in inclement weather conditions to run a 5K.
Hosting the ‘Keep Going’ 5K run in Central Park today was a great experience! I felt like this was perfect to celebrate the release of my new song ‘Keep Going’, braving that I wrote it from my experience running the NYC Marathon last year with @nextpageworkshop!
I truly appreciate everyone who came out and had a good time despite the rain. We got some miles in today, let’s get it! This is what community building looks like.

Ditch the club, grab your sneakers! 👟
I’m doing things a little differently for the release of my new single, “Keep Going.” This track was born from the grit and magic of my NYC Marathon experience, so it only felt right to celebrate with miles instead of martinis.
Come join me for the ‘Keep Going’ 5K Social Run! This isn’t a race—it’s a vibe. We’re hitting the pavement together to celebrate movement, music, and the “keep going” spirit.
📍 The Details:
• When: Saturday, April 25th
• Where: 7th Ave & Central Park South
• Meet Up: 10:00 AM (Stretches & vibes)
• Step Off: 10:30 AM sharp 🏃🏾♂️💨
⚠️ A Few Quick Notes:
• Bag Check: We don’t have one! Please travel light and only bring what you can carry.
• The Path: You can check out the full map under ‘Run Route’ in the link in my bio.
Let’s turn Central Park into our own personal music video. I can’t wait to see you there and share this song with the community that inspired it.

Appreciate everyone who showed love on the snippets before the official release. This song means a lot to me, especially after everything that went into the marathon and the hurdles since.

Whether it’s the miles behind you, the weight in front of you, or the justice we’re still marching for—one thing remains the same: We. Keep. Going. 🗣️🔥
I wrote this song for every person out there refusing to back down. Whether you’re training for a marathon, hitting a new PR in the gym, or standing on the front lines for what’s right, "Keep Going" is the fuel for your fire.
My new single "Keep Going" drops everywhere April 1st. 🗓️
It’s more than a song; it’s the mindset. Let’s make some noise.

5 years since "Outta My Face" dropped (2021). 🗓️ We filmed this during a wild time in the world, but the vision never wavered. To every creator out there: see it through. No matter the circumstances, make your reality.
I’m grateful this record is still reaching new ears in this "microwave" era. Real connection > everything. ✊🏾

It all started with one line: “Not a thug, or pimp, or nigga, I’m king, crown!” 👑
When I wrote the song “Crown,” I didn’t know those words would end up on the backs of my community. I started wearing the prototype at shows and on the street, and the energy was instant. People didn’t just see a shirt; they saw a boundary being drawn in the sand.
I heard the ladies loud and clear, too. I sat down with the women in my life—family and friends—to make sure the Queen tees carried that same power without losing the message. We chose to cross out the slurs to make room for the truth.
For the Centennial Anniversary of Black History Month, I’m bringing these back. In a world that still tries to dehumanize us (swipe to the end to see @repalgreen reminding them), we have to wear our identity out loud.
