Hi everyone 👋🏽 call me Wandi. I am South African creator and a passionate pageant enthusiast. Subscribe to our page for ✨ everything pageant & lifestyle ✨related.
Head to Head - Top 25 Talent - Top 23 Sport's Challenge - Top 32 Top Model - Top 5
She was also selected as a speaker alongside 5 other ladies for the "Save the Tiger" advocacy initiative. Where they those 6 ladies spoke to important dignitaries in India 🇮🇳 and also got the chance to spend the day with Julia Morley and Miss World - Karolina Bielawska.
My thoughts from last year eversince Carol was chosen / head hunted for the MW license have always stood firm, in that we are going to be given the Miss Worlf Africa title. Top 5 minimum.
I also think this year, is the year where we will see a black African woman winning the coveted blue crown since Abgani Derago of Nigeria 🇳🇬 2001.
And both South Africa 🇿🇦 & Botswana 🇧🇼 are it. Botswana ultimately for me being the possible winner (she's been finishing stronger in all events) but at MW thats not exactly a determining factor (consistency is rewarded but they will always go for their preferences). So we will see.
I think South Africa 🇿🇦 could win this for the following reasons:
(1) winning back South Africa's very strong miss world fanbase - it's not secret that our country hasn't been impressed with them over the past years especially with the intentional snubbings of Miss South Africa girls.
(2) Market - our country has always been an important site of relevance for Miss World (with lots of community & charity partners).
(3) We are the perfect launching pad, if ever they want to crown a woman of colour again. Because of the above two reasons and well our presence in international pageantry as a powerhouse.
(4) Julia thanking Carol for salvaging the Miss World program.
I think also they saw from last year that it could still use a boost, so Claude winning would attract more young girls and potential partners (sponsors).
(5) Former British territory 🤣🤣 let's be real on that. A plus for the miss world brand.
I’m here to just quickly share my thoughts and overall favourites for the #MissSouthAfrica crown:
Firstly, I think people shouldn’t worry about Miss Universe and it’s influence over South Africa too much, there’s been so much talk about Khun Anne’s expectations of our system.
That people think of Miss SA as this one dimensional pageant that’s virtually become “Miss Universe South Africa”, and for me though we have seen how hard the org goes for Miss Universe.
The Miss South Africa pageant is still its own brand and serves its own function outside of competing internationally.
With that being said here are my Top 5 favourites for tonight.
5. Jordan can der Vyver- I think she had an amazing interview with the judges, she was alive and she came back fully prepared in the second leg of the journey.
Jordan was impactful and her answers were full of substance during her interview. With one minor stumble along the way but she recovered really well and overall I think the judges were able to see her hunger, her sincerity and determination.
Also she’s my potential top 3 spoiler.
4. Homba Mazaleni- I think Homba is really exceptional and she has stood out tremendously during this season. She’s eloquent, funny, quirky and relatable at the same time. I think South Africans would really relish her as Miss SA.
Overall Homba as well has displayed a tremendous fighting spirit and want for the crown. She’s definitely top 3 worthy. Buy for me right now, I think Homba does a really great job with answering questions that are personal to her, in an imaginative and colourful way. I’m just not sure if she’s quite ready for the title this year though hence why for me she’s forth overall.
Winners Circle (Top 3).
3. Nande Mabala - I think Nande is someone that has arisen to the occasion and has absolutely dominated in this competition. She is relatable, she is comfortable in her own skin, communicates really well. In one of my notes from her interview I wrote that the tone of her voice sounds nice (now bearing in mind that, that nothing to do with anything), I think that because she is such a natural speaker, her thoughts flow organically. That coupled with her soothing voice makes her someone I could religiously listen to on and on.
I think she has an incredible sense of self worth, when she is in front of you you can feel her presence and her humorous spirit. I’ve just fallen for her throughout this period.
Now it gets tricky.
2. Melissa Nayimuli- I think Melissa as well is a born natural, she is incredibly compelling and she really is one of the more intentional girls in this journey about what she has to offer, who it directly affects, what will come from that. I think that she also full of presence, she for me embodies what a transformational leader is and I truly cannot see any other person aside from maybe Jordan (more on this later )to go represent our country in El Salvador.
Her platform on xenophobic and her genuine interest in African relations plus unity really for me cements her as a leader. I think that she also incredibly well rounded and ultimately could very well be our Miss SA 2023.
Which makes life interesting because as things are my :
Overall my presence for the title of Miss South Africa and its title is Natasha Joubert. I think by far she has been the most prepared candidate for the job, showing up fully at every occasion.
Honestly her genuine interest in serving our country beyond then just competing internationally for me is awe inspiring. I find value in having that characteristic because ultimately the title of Miss South Africa, is just that. One lucky woman each year who pours back to her country and expects nothing in return.
Her interview also went really really well, her level of vulnerability I think is what overall won me over. Natasha is truly very honest, sincere and wears her heart on her sleeve. I don’t think any of the other girls have been able to show up in the same capacity that she in all senses, whether it be competitively, emotionally or with sound intention.
Beyond having advocacies and great oratory skills, which she does and it’s been amazing to see her growth in both areas. I truly believe that this is her time and she is in season.
A big shocker:
Bryoni not making it onto my list. Overall I think Bryoni has lacked consistency for me, I think she definitely had her moments where I was blown away by her calibre but that same energy wasn’t maintained throughout.
I think that though she has really great aesthetic value and could really be powerful if she were to become Miss South Africa, her personality just isn’t serving her as well. That’s something I actually wish we got to see more of as well.
I feel like for me she’s an amazing girl truly but her fellow contestants edged her out of that top spot for me in other ways. I can’t describe this without coming across as somewhat harsh but overall for me I think Bryoni is great conceptually but in reality I just don’t feel her impact. I could very well see why allot of fans too to her so well, but with me individually i really wanted to feel her spark which ultimately I could see it flaring but it wasn’t burning.
So grateful for these three, they have raised our flag up high and each have shown the South African spirit to the world. Also kudos to our incredible designers for their tireless dedication and efforts to the craft and truly just making sure our girls are “the moment” every time they step on stage. #MissSA#MissSouthAfrica#MissSupranational#LalelaMswane#AyandaThabethe#ThatoMosehle

Former Miss Universe and Miss South Africa title holder Zozibini Tunzi makes her television series debut as the host of the very first Miss South Africa television show, Crown Chasers, which starts on SABC3 on Saturday, July 8, at 16h00. Speaking of her role in the series, Zozibini Tunzi, who made her big screen debut in last year's The Woman King, says: "Hosting a TV series for the first time has been a beautiful experience. It came as second nature to me because the show is about a world with which I am very familiar. What made it even more fulfilling was being a part of helping build it from the start, and every step of the way, from an executive producing perspective. "I think that everyone should watch Crown Chasers because imagine that every year people wonder what the process of choosing a Miss South Africa is like and now they will finally have a full picture. "What's also special about this show is that South Africa gets to fall in love with these women and watch them grow in their journey towards the crown. When your favourite contestant becomes Miss South Africa, it will feel as though you have walked with them every step of the way and learnt what kind of woman they are. There's just something so beautiful about feeling included and being a part of your new Miss South Africa's journey." And Tunzi's advice to the finalists? "To be sure of themselves. They are all finalists because they worked hard and they deserve to be there. I want them to know that every event and situation that has ever happened in their lives has prepared them for this moment. The answer to being Miss South Africa is not rocket science and is not found in any books. They have every answer they need within themselves, so all they must do is just show up in their truest form." #MissSouthAfrica2023#MissSA#MissSA2023#ZozibiniTunzi#SouthAfrica#MissUniverseSouthAfrica#ZoziTunzi#SABC3#MissUniverse#MissSouthAfrica#MissUniverso#MissUSA#MissIndia#MissVenezuela#MissNamibia#MissColombia#MissPeru#MissUniversePhilippines

After watching interviews, I can confidently say my final 12 has definitely changed. We’ve got some hits from our new batch and the returners ? (They fought for their spots). I’m so ready for the reveal actually 🤩🤩 also final prediction and favourites list coming out soon. I still have to rewatch for accuracy and well because the app glitches multiple times.
