Ugh it's proving really hard to get the new video live - it's a movie review and although I've done tons of those in the past, I've never had copyright issues like I'm having with this one. And I can't film anything new in the meantime because I just had dental surgery and my face is wrecked.

I'm really excited to see what you make of the video I just finished editing. I'm just wrangling with some copyright stuff, but I hope I can get it published without making too many changes, because I'm really happy with it.

It's a bit different, and took a long time, but if it performs well and you guys like it, I'd like to do more.

Hello everyone!

Just a note about the Christmas videos.

So I had 20 filmed, and 16 edited, with the intention of filming and editing the final batch on the 15th of Decemeber. But things moved fast behind the scenes, and on that day I was offered a new job at very short notice. It was too good to refuse, it's work that I fought really had for and pursued aggressively. But it threw all my plans into chaos, because I started immediately, and the first two weeks, over Christmas, have been... intense.

So, I'll be saving the rest of the videos for next year. Rest assured, it's not just the youtube stuff that was affected, I had to change all my plans to jump on the new opportunity.

It's also worth pointing out that the daily video series actually, and unexpectedly, tanked my numbers. The views are really low compared to my normal stuff, and every video that I published lost me more followers than I gained. When I started taking Bat Country a bit more seriously, I promised myself stuff like that doesn't matter, but to be completely honest with you, it does start to matter over time. It's inevitable. And it kinda sucks to see all that effort come to not very much.

Youtube expects me to be a very raw, long-form content producer, and the algorithm squashes my shorter, better produced stuff. That long form stuff is what I personally watch the most of, and it's what I enjoy doing the most, and it's what I think has the most value. So I'll be sticking closer to that style for the new year.

While I'm incredibly grateful that there's a handful of you who found the daily videos useful, I have to weigh that up against the damage they were doing to my little channel. So I paused them, and I'll try it again next year in some form.

And for those of you worried about my sobriety, I appreciate your concern, and I'm fine. Don't worry about me. You can find me on my socials every day and see that I'm alive and kicking, I leave the links on all the videos and I'm pretty responsive.

Hello!

Looks like there might not be a new video for a couple more days. I moved into a new apartment and then fell off a bicycle, so I'm a bit banged up. It's stupid really, I've cycled all my life, thousands and thousands of miles, and I know bikes inside and out. I could build one from scratch. And yet, sometimes, even with all those years of experience, I will still just grab the wrong brake lever and go flying over the handlebars. Goes to show, I don't need to be drunk to be dumb.

Check the photo. My Bat Country ODAAT pendant looks pretty awesome covered in blood.

Anyway I just wanted to check in to say thank you to those who've subscribed, and who comment on my videos. I've just spent a couple of hours going through the backlog of comments and the comments my videos get, well, it's like medicine to me. I don't want to get all sentimental, but all this stuff really is pretty amazing.

I've got about 7 different ideas for the next video but I'm always looking for audience ideas too, so if there's anything you REALLY want to talk about, let me know in the comments and I'll get to it as soon as I can.
