. So how can we do it well? For me: charity shops. Taking whatās already in circulation. Not showing and creating a demand for new items, not asking for more plastic - but using whatās already there and passing it on well. Thatās what makes me feel amazing in clothes, thatās style to me.
Some thoughts floating in my mind lately after a decade of trying to bring little bits of change online! ā¤ļø
The internet likes polarisation, sides, black and white, quick one liners with no nuance⦠the algorithm thrives, but I think itās pushing us apart. I wonder if, to bring needed change in so many areas, we need to grow our ability to hold and communicate two truths at once. Itās not always comfortable, it can feel like weāre conceding precious ground on something we care about, it can maybe make our case appear less strong in a world of absolutes and extremes, we can worry it wonāt compel people to listen or change as much⦠but, I think we need more conversations and holding two things as true, together.
What two truths do you think need holding together?
We donāt always have to simplify it, sometimes we need to embrace the complexity of holding two truths and seeing where that goes. So Iām really asking myself where I need to do this and this is my encouragement to ask yourself too where you might need to. ā¤ļø
This was a fun text from my husband during a wedding at the weekend 𤪠We now have bees under our floor.
Iāve been scouring FB marketplace for hives and found one this morning one minute after it went up. Itās a hot market apparently. š So weāre off to get it.
Stay tuned for the adventure of getting them outā¦
Morning incubator watching! Well just be here staring until theyāre out! We have one duckling thatās cracked the shell and a few others juggling around making the eggs move. Itās taking ALL my patience! š„ š£
Happy Monday friends! Iāve got two videos for this week cos I filmed us candling our duck eggs and it was AMAZING to see! And then we have a follow up from the last Ballerina Farm video to explore some of the comments - Iām excited to dive deeper into this one again with you all.
My Christmas break project while all my social media apps were deleted! I binged Virgin River, turned an old duvet cover and some charity shop thread into this jacket, and lowered my cortisol!

I loved this outfit so much! šŖ© Iām not remotely extra in every day life so I wanted to lean in! And it was a 100% charity shop outfit down to my bra which made me SO happy.
.
Such a big part of loving something, and style for me, is the story behind it. I canāt love an outfit just cos of how it looks, if its story might involve forced labour, polluting another womanās water, or stealing designs from a small business. I canāt feel stylish in something lāve shown consumer demand for, that will sit in landfill forever, hurting communities around it.
.
And honestly party wear is one of the worst for the environment- so many little bits of plastic, sequins, glitter, polyester.
.

Also, I need a bit more extra in my every day. Right?! šŖ©
