God is great! I will be using this channel for sharing bible studies and discussions. I am a Torah observant follower of Jesus/Yeshua. I believe in following the instructions of God as taught by Christ. I believe that God's law is still applicable and necessary for christians today. Can I go to a Christmas party to see friends?
James 4:4 NKJV

[15] Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. [16] For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world.
Deuteronomy 12:29-32 NKJV
[29] “When the Lord your God cuts off from before you the nations which you go to dispossess, and you displace them and dwell in their land, [30] take heed to yourself that you are not ensnared to follow them, after they are destroyed from before you, and that you do not inquire after their gods, saying, ‘How did these nations serve their gods? I also will do likewise.’ [31] You shall not worship the Lord your God in that way; for every abomination to the Lord which He hates they have done to their gods; for they burn even their sons and daughters in the fire to their gods. [32] “Whatever I command you, be careful to observe it; you shall not add to it nor take away from it.
In my opinion, I will choose God's instructions. When we are feeling our hearts tug us to partake in something that we know to be of the world and not of God, and start to kinda look for excuses to relax his Law so that we can do something, that gets to be dangerous. The Torah says to not copy and worship Yahweh the way that the nations/pagans worship their God's. And we are consistently told not to be friends of the world or love the things of the world. I take this as wanting to partake of something of the world when we know it's against God's instructions. I cannot make anybody do or not do something, but I would just say if you are finding yourself feeling tugged in a way to try and find a loophole for something, we should probably stear clear and cling to Yahweh's word. I wouldn't go on Christmas and hang out with them another day. Gifts will still be there, and you can still visit and have a good time.
