I've had a few requests to cover the Sinners & Stardust event. However, after I talked with some people on Threads, I learned that many people don't want to see any more videos from people who weren't personally at the event. ^ I definitely recommend reading through this blog post, since it directly sources and archives an Instagram story from Animus, a cosplayer who was touched without consent multiple times at the event.

I hope everyone who experienced unwanted attention, advances, or any other forms of trauma at this event feels supported and knows that the book community has your back. I'm so sad and disgusted to hear how so many fellow authors and readers were treated, and I want to extend my support to everyone affected.

Also, I saw that the event organizers themselves did a great job (meaning, this was the first controversial book event this year where the organizers WEREN'T at fault), so I'm glad to see that they were on top of handling all of this and looking out for authors, attendees, and more.

One last thing: if anyone else who attended the event (as an author, reader, cosplayer, or otherwise!) has a video or thread on the topic that I missed, please feel free to send it to me, and I'll share it as well!

coming friday! i hope it doesn't disappoint y'all -- i WILL have plenty of criticisms of Audra Winter, but i wanted to explore more of the WHY when it comes to young, confident, autistic women making mistakes like this on a grand scale in their early 20s. audra gives me flashbacks to my chaotic 22-year-old self, and while her behavior isn't EXCUSABLE, there's a lot more to unpack as to HOW we get to this point. i couldn't make a video just dunking on her, because i think there's a lot more to the story than that. i hope you guys enjoy the video!
