In 1919, Katherine Routhledge described a mysterious ancient road on Easter Island, “It can be frequently seen there like a long persistent furrow, and where its course has been interrupted by erosion, no fresh track had been made further inland; it terminates suddenly on the broken edge, and resumes its course on the other side. This silent witness to a forgotten past is one of the most mysterious and impressive things on the island”. I’ll be talking about this and other mysteries in my upcoming Easter Island episode 🗿

Take a look at this 1931 excavation photo of the Pre Rup pyramid in Cambodia. Check out the size and quality of the stonework, especially in the top left part of the photo, compared to the small brick structure in the top middle. According to archaeologists, ALL of this was built by the same culture in 961AD. #cambodia #ancient

I’m always fascinated by the images portrayed in Native American rock art. I took these photos last week at two cave sites on the Middle Fork of the Salmon River in Idaho. These are estimated to be 800-1,000 years old and were created by the Tukudeka (Sheepeaters) band of the Northern Shoshone.
