🇺🇸 Celebrating 250 Years of America: A Reflection on Freedom, Gratitude, and Inner Peace

With gratitude and joy, we stand alongside everyone across this great nation in celebrating a remarkable milestone—the 250th anniversary of the independence of the United States of America.

We feel deeply grateful to call this nation home. On this historic day, we honor the founders whose vision laid the foundations of this nation, together with all those across generations whose service and sacrifice have helped preserve its enduring ideals of liberty and the pursuit of happiness. This celebration also invites us to pause in gratitude for the countless blessings—seen and unseen—that continue to support, protect, and nourish our lives.

We are especially thankful for the journey we were blessed to experience across this land—a nation whose open roads carried us for 2,300 miles, and whose open hearts welcomed us, again and again, with extraordinary kindness and generosity.

As America reflects on 250 years of independence, this enduring journey gently reminds us of our own path toward the freedom and peace within. It is an inner freedom no longer bound by hatred, anger, fear, or grief. True happiness blossoms when the mind discovers stillness, when we cultivate inner peace, and when we recognize the shared humanity that connects us all.

Walking through scorching heat and freezing snow, across cities and countryside, we encountered people of every background and faith. In every encounter, the same simple truth quietly revealed itself: a harmonious nation and a peaceful world begin with a peaceful heart.

On this historic day, we joyfully celebrate 250 years of America. We offer our heartfelt wishes and humble prayers for the continued well-being, growth, and flourishing of this nation and everyone who calls it home. May this meaningful milestone also invite each of us to turn inward, cultivate peace through mindfulness and loving-kindness, and let that peace gently ripple outward into our families, our communities, and our world.

May the light of inner peace shine in every heart across this nation and throughout our world, today and always.

Happy 250th Birthday, America!

With respect and compassion,
Walk for Peace

May you and all beings be well, happy and at peace. 🙏✨

📌 Deepest Condolences — Tragic Accident of Thai Monks, July 2, 2026

Our hearts are heavy today as we receive deeply saddening news from northeastern Thailand. A heartbreaking accident occurred when a vehicle struck a group of 30 monks during their sacred walking practice through Mukdahan province, claiming the lives of 9 venerable monks and leaving many others injured.

We want to gently reassure our community that the venerable monks of the Walk for Peace are not involved in this accident and are entirely safe. Yet as brothers in the Dhamma, we feel this profound loss deeply in our hearts. We extend our most heartfelt condolences to the Sangha of Thailand, the families of the departed, and all those affected. We pray for the departed venerable monks and dedicate all our merits to them—may they rest in serene and ultimate peace, and may those still hospitalized recover swiftly and completely.

This news echoes within us in a deeply personal way — bringing back the memory of our own frightening moment on Day 25 of the Walk for Peace, November 19, 2025, near Dayton, Texas, when a vehicle lost control and veered directly toward our walking group. In that breathless moment, the line between life and death felt heartbreakingly thin. We understand, in a very real way, the vulnerability that comes with walking on the road in service of peace.

A long journey for peace is never without hardship. It carries severe weather, physical exhaustion, and unpredictable dangers on the open road. Yet it is precisely within these challenges that the true and beautiful vow of the venerable monks shines most brightly.

Their footsteps do not stop out of fear. The dedication to carry the message of peace, mindfulness, and loving-kindness to all beings is greater than any obstacle. Every step is an offering — a quiet and steadfast promise to endure adversity so that seeds of peace may be planted across the world.

This moment also reminds us gently of how precious and fragile life truly is — and how deeply we are called to treasure each breath, each moment, living fully in the present with mindfulness and love.

May all beings everywhere be free from suffering, be healthy, be safe, be peaceful and at ease in body and in mind. 🙏✨
