Payday Habits That Helped Me Become More Financially Literate 💸
Small payday habits I’ve built over time that helped me get to $100k+ saved and invested 💸
Nothing extreme, just a few simple things I do consistently.
• I actually check my statements.
Every week, I look at my bank + credit card statements to make sure everything’s on track. You can’t fix what you avoid, and this keeps me aware instead of anxious.
• I auto-invest my pay.
A portion of my paycheck goes straight into my investing platform automatically. If it doesn’t sit in my chequing account, I’m way less likely to spend it unknowingly. This was definitely the most important one for me.
• I track my spending with a budget.
Once a week, I log my spending in my budget tracker. It helps me see what’s realistic, what I can afford to spend, and how much I can actually invest without guessing.
• I fund my emergency savings first.
I set money aside right away so future me is covered.
• I check my credit score.
Not necessary, but I like knowing there are no surprises and that everything looks as it should.
I plan so I don’t have to stress later. Most of this comes down to planning ahead and setting up systems so I’m aware and can make the best informed decisions.
These are just the habits that work for me, you don’t need to do it the same way. Start small, stay consistent, and do what actually fits your lifestyle! 💞
