While visiting Doha, Qatar, I was gifted this beautiful Ethiopian Kemis and matching scarf by my friend’s mother.
What makes this garment special is not only its beauty, but its story.
She shared that her imam once told her she would meet a woman one day and know that this Kemis was meant for her. She held onto it for years—decades even—until we met.
I’ve always believed that fashion can be more than clothing. It can carry history, memory, culture, and sometimes even a sense of destiny.
I never imagined I would become the caretaker of such a meaningful garment, and one day I hope to pass it on to the woman it is meant for next.
