I’m Matthew Hardy—an actor, musical theater writer, and creator of Bored and Confused Reviews, where I review New York theater.
This channel is where I share what I’m working on: original songs, demos, and material from my shows, from children’s theater to larger musical projects. Some of it’s polished, some of it’s still in progress, but it’s all part of building new work.
You’ll also find my Bored and Confused reviews, where I cover Broadway and Off-Broadway shows and answer two simple questions: Was I bored? Was I confused?

NEW REVIEW! I just saw JEROME at Playwrights Horizons and I have to say — I really love this play. An aging gay couple living in a tiny Arizona ghost town. The height of the AIDS epidemic. And a stranger who arrives and changes everything.
Stephen Spinella is wonderful. The one-liners are sharp. And there's a scene involving sex — all offstage — that is genuinely the funniest and most truthful thing I've seen in a theater in a while.
Jerome runs through June 21. There are $29 student tickets and $33 rush tickets on TodayTix. Go see it while you can.

MOM IS BACK! Bored and Confused: MOM EDITION takes on OH, MARY! 🎭
My mom braved a box-seat rush ticket to see Cole Escola's hit Broadway comedy, and she has THOUGHTS — about Mary Todd Lincoln, the very blue humor, and one scene that left her completely confused. Honest, unfiltered, and very entertaining.

🏆 My 2026 Tony Award Predictions are UP!
One week out from the ceremony and I'm calling all 26 categories — Best Musical, Best Play, every acting award, and every technical category. I'm using my Want / Should / Will framework, and I am NOT playing it safe.
Some highlights:
→ I want a jukebox musical to win Best Musical. Yes, really.
→ John Lithgow edges out Nathan Lane. Fight me.
→ Every fiber of my being is rooting for Marla Mendel, and I don't think she'll win.

Robert Montano's one-man show about a teenage jockey who couldn't stop growing is one of the most physically committed performances I've seen. Stunning stagecraft. Real questions about whether you can root for someone pursuing a dream that's wrong for them.

I woke up at 7am, stood in line for $30 rush tickets to Rocky Horror Show… and watched someone's friend casually stroll in at 8am and cut the queue. Did I say something? Yes. Did it work? Kind of. Did I get the ticket? BARELY.
