NOW LIVE FOR SALE!
nativeoak.org/products/the-corpse-war-of-1793?vari…

I just want to point out that *technically* I was able to publish the product before midnight, in my current timezone! There is still a lot of admin and infrastructure to handle around the launch, but for the time being, I can say for certain that the physical book and also a PDF version is UP and AVAILABLE FOR SALE at www.nativeoak.org!

In the coming days I'll also be posting art cards from the book, expanding the actual for sale page, getting it up on Amazon, making a video ad for it, setting up a dedicated section on the website, and a whole lot else. Of course that will also include a sappy message. But, for now, I just wanted to get the announcement out there ASAP.

Once I set up an Epub version, I will be emailing them to everyone who purchases a PDF copy as well, so no worries about having to spend more down the road.

But for now, the purchasing experience may not look all that fancy just yet, BUT THE BOOK IS LIVE!

As ever, if you have any questions or concerns, let me know by emailing brandonf@nativeoak.org !

Thank you all!

A formatting question for the book

I am going to be including both a glossary of 18th C. military terms as part of the "in-universe" book, and also a guide of the various elements of a soldier's kit and the parts of a firelock, to help readers who may be less familiar with the period.

Do you think these pages go at the start, or after the end, of the book?

Remember- "The Corpse War of 1793", my debut historical fiction novel about a soldier's encounter with the undead, is set for release on the 1st of December!

‪@fightertales‬ artwork keeps getting better and I am so happy to have 20+ of his original pieces in the upcoming book. The delay will have been VERY worth it by the end.

Reminder, "The Corpse War of 1793" is slated for release on the First of December! It will be for sale via www.nativeoak.org and also via Amazon.

Physical copies will be able to be shipped worldwide.

Hi everyone! I am not allowed to promote my upcoming historical-fiction horror-thriller novel, "The Corpse War of 1793", about a zombie uprising in 18th century England, due to be released for sale at www.nativeoak.org on the 1st of December, 2025, anymore.

So, I just wanted to let you all know that you shouldn't expect me to be posting any more announcements about "The Corpse War" and how I'm really excited to release it to you all. If I could advertise it, I'd probably try to target fans of the Sharpe and WWZ books, because I really think it will appeal to them!

Overall, though, I suppose the best way to continue promoting it will be to send people to my website, www.nativeoak.org. After all, the book will be for sale there alongside my other book project, the non-fiction "Something Like Philosophy" about privation and trauma in military history, as well as my free digital library where people can read real primary sources like "The Recollections of Rifleman Harris" for free. While they're there, they'll also see my upcoming historical fiction horror thriller novel, "The Corpse War of 1793" for sale, starting on the 1st of December, 2025. Which, of course, I won't be telling you about otherwise moving forward.

I wonder if I might also try some guerilla style marketing, asking more vague questions like, "If there was something called a 'Corpse War' and it was in 1793, would you want to see me write a book about it, and release that book 1 December 2025?" That might be a way to subvert the new regulation.

Anyways, I won't talk about my book, The Corpse War, anymore, I promise.

Hello everyone,

I am afraid I have some unfortunate news. Almost two weeks ago, I announced that “The Corpse War of 1793” would be officially released on this Friday, the 14th of November. However, it has since become apparent to me that I will need to delay the release one last time.

The new release date will be Monday, the 1st of December, 2025.

I know this will be disappointing to some, and I really hated coming to the conclusion it was necessary, but trust me when I say that it is so. When I first set the release date, I did so in too much haste, being too excited to see it finished and finally put a bow on the project I’ve dedicated something like two years to, by now.

Technically, I could release the book to you all on the original date. The final product would be totally acceptable and, I should hope, a cut above the usual ‘self published YouTuber fare’. However, I want this project to be much more than that. I want it to be something that I am genuinely very proud of, as so far I have been, and that I can say I put 100% into instead of just 95. This is to say nothing of how important it is, after finishing a project “in full”, to take a step back and a deep breath before dipping in for the final examination. As I still dedicate so much time and energy to the book over all else, this delay is precisely what will allow me to breathe a little more and see the whole picture with clearer eyes. Ultimately, the project will be much better for it!

Overall I would rather have finished the book and be antsy to release it for a week or so, than to only just get it out on time and realise a typo or continuity error the minute after I sell my first copy. I also want to have more time in actually planning the launch! A big livestream, an art competition, getting other YouTube creators on board, and more besides. Again, if I just release the book ASAP, I won’t be able to give it the arrival I feel it deserves.

So, cross out the old, and mark down the new! The new release date for “The Corpse War of 1793” is the First of December, 2025! We’ll call it a night-mare before Christmas.

Remember that if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, you can always shoot me a line at BrandonF@Nativeoak.org or by filling out the contact form on my website.

Thank you all!

I am planning out a very long livestream for the 14th, to commemorate the launch of the book! Alongside a discussion with my artist, readings of the first few chapters, and plenty of Q&A, I am going to be playing a few games.

What zombie-themed games/mods would you like to see me play? Other than the obvious, which yes, I will be playing.

My next livestream is going to be a BIG one! I am thinking something close to 6 hours, but I still need to plan it all out formally. It will be a digital launch party for the book, on the 14th! I'll be sure to schedule it in advance here on the channel.

Although, because it is going to be a stream to encourage book sales, I have decided to end the "Tank Museum: Restore KTV2 to Running order" fundraiser a little early. There is also the fact that the Paypal fees for receiving donations were more brutal than I thought (no worries- I've eaten that cost myself, so if you gave to a stream, the full amount was still sent to the museum!) Future charity streams will definitely be through Justgiving or similar platforms.

The total amount raised was $396, which equals out to £300, and I have just donated it! I'll go to update the overall tracker at www.nativeoak.org now. Be aware, I still need to make the donations for the Q3 Native Oak Fund poll. As ever, if you have any questions, reach out to me directly at brandonf@nativeoak.org or via the website.

Quick! The zombie horde is descending upon you! You and your men have ~half a day to fortify a position against them. Which defensive work, common to the 18th century, do you use, and how?
