This channel will remain a platform for sharing my own introspections, discoveries, pursuits and meditations into the dynamic and expansive musical genre - Dhrupad.
Having learnt Dhrupad from Shri Sanjeev Jha and Dhrupad maestros Padmashree Gundecha Brothers, I am currently pursuing the depths of Dagarvani Dhrupad under the tutelage of Dhrupad and Vedic scholar Pandit Suvrata Sharmana Vandopadhyay. My humble pranams to all my gurus and my father & mother - my first gurus, for allowing me this experience of a lifetime.
I aspire to bring Dhrupad from being seen as a rigid and orthodox genre, and slowly being relegated to textbooks, to an artform that is responding to a contemporary musical environment, and as a vibrant, living and evolving tradition. On this channel I also share my work on the unique overlap between Dhrupad and Carnatic music through the works of Sri Muthuswamy Dikshitar.
