내 청춘은 어디로 가고 있을까 문득 생각해봤습니다.
춤으로 세상과 소통한 지 어느덧 15..년… 이 되었군요.

20살, 연기와 뮤지컬을 공부하며 배운 탭댄스가 저에겐 첫 춤이었던 것 같습니다. 그러다 보니 탭댄스 선생님이 되었고, 책과 옛 영화를 보며 재즈댄스를 익혀 무용과에 진학해 보기도 하였습니다. 제가 목표했던 것과 다르다 느꼈기에, LA로 무작정 날라가서 동경하던 안무가들의 수업 안에서 한없이 작아지는 45일간의 경험, 야니스 마샬이라는 한 프랑스의 안무가의 영감을 배워보고자 무작정 파리로 날라간 60일간의 레벨업 시간, 그로 인해 에르메스 패션쇼라는 행사의 댄서이자 한국인 MC를 맡아보기도 하는 신기한 경험을 하였습니다.

자랑스러운 K-pop을 이끄는 에이전시에서 많은 수업을 했던 것, 원밀리언 댄스 스튜디오에서 만난 수많은 댄서와 학생들,
전 세계를 돌아다니며 수백 개의 댄스 워크숍을 진행하기도 하면서 정말 많은 분들을 뵐 수 있었던 것에 진심으로 감사하게 생각하고 있습니다. (어떻게 저를 찾아주셨는지..🥺).
이야기를 하다 보니, 고산지대인 볼리비아에서 산소호흡기를 입에대고 산소를 마시면서 수업을 하던 목숨을 건 티칭도 떠오르네요..ㅎㅎ

댄서 에이전시를 만들어 보겠다며 달려봤지만 처참한 실패 후(재정적 어려움을 겪기도 하며,, 🫠..) 좋은 일, 슬픈 일 가득한 댄서의 생활을 마치고 군입대를 하였습니다.

늦은 군 전역 후(가끔 그들이 그리움,, 진심) 트위치란 세계 최고의 라이브 방송 플랫폼에서 전 세계인과 소통하며 스트리머로 지냈던 너무 행복했던 기억도 있네요. 한국 통신사와 트위치 코리아의 불협화음으로 아쉽게 일터가 사라졌지만요..

그러고 보니, 이터널리턴 공식 대회 해설위원으로도 활약했었군요! 나름 다채로웠 던 나날들이었네요ㅎㅎ

그렇게 살아가다 우연치 않게 저의 춤을 다시 찾아주는 곳을 만났습니다, 인도🇮🇳.
인도란 나라에 방문하여 첫 수업을 하게 된 게 거의 1년 전 일이네요. 그 후 일본에 가서 많은 안무가들에게 영감을 받는 재충전의 시간도 가졌습니다. 흘러가다 보니 T-Series 사무실에 앉아 서로의 협업을 이야기하기도 했고, 발리우드의 아티스트들과도 협업하는 지금 저의 모습도 참으로 신기하고 감사합니다.

솔직히 아직도 이 세상에서 제가 어떤 일을 하며 살아갈지 모르겠습니다.
앞으로도 어떤 일들과 실패가 다가올지 알 수 있는 방법도 없네요.
아직까지 저의 느지막한 청춘은 게임 속 한 장면과 비슷한 것 같아요. 오늘도 부딪혀 보는 거죠. 뭐, 부딪혀 봐야 기믹을 파훼할 거 아닙니까.
그 과정이 짜릿한 행복이니까요.

승부욕이 강한 타고난 게이머인 저의 다음 스텝은 어딜까요.
그 멋진 무대에서 함께 할 수 있기를 소망합니다.
우리의 막트는 성불할 때까지 찐찐찐막이니까요.

-어느 가을 인지, 겨울인지, 추워진 깊은 오후에🍂 91년생으로 부터,,

It’s hard to believe it’s already been 16 years since I started communicating with the world through dance. When I was 20, I studied acting and musical theatre, and tap dance was probably the very first dance I ever learned. That experience eventually led me to become a tap dance instructor.

I taught myself jazz dance through old movies and books, and even enrolled in a dance department — but at some point, I realized it wasn’t quite the path I had dreamed of. So, I packed my bags and flew to LA without a plan. For 45 days, I threw myself into classes with choreographers I had long admired, often feeling so small in the presence of such greatness.

Later, I spent 60 unforgettable days living in Paris, inspired by the French choreographer Yanis Marshall. That journey unexpectedly led me to perform as both a dancer and the Korean MC at the Hermès Fashion Show — truly one of the most surreal experiences of my life. I’ve taught countless classes for major K-pop agencies and met incredible dancers and students at 1MILLION Dance Studio.

Traveling across the world to lead hundreds of dance workshops, I’m deeply grateful for all the amazing people I’ve met along the way. Thinking back, I even remember teaching a class in the highlands of Bolivia, gasping for breath and using an oxygen tank — a literal life-or-death teaching moment. 😅

At one point, I tried to start my own dance agency — only to experience a harsh failure (and some serious financial struggles along the way).

After years filled with both triumphs and heartbreaks, I decided to pause my dancer life and enlist in the military. After completing my service — which I sometimes miss, honestly — I became a streamer on Twitch, one of the world’s biggest live platforms. Those were some of the happiest days of my life, connecting with people all around the world. Unfortunately, due to conflicts between Korean telecom companies and Twitch Korea, that chapter came to an end.

Then, by chance, I found myself being invited back to dance again — this time in India. That was about a year ago. Since then, I’ve had meetings at T-Series headquarters, discussed collaborations, and even worked with Bollywood artists. It still feels surreal, and I’m incredibly thankful for every bit of it.

To be honest, I still don’t really know what I’ll be doing in the future.
There’s no way to predict what kind of challenges or failures might come next.
But my late-blooming youth feels a lot like a video game — I just keep running forward and facing whatever comes my way.

You can’t break the gimmicks unless you crash into them first, right? And that process itself is the thrill I live for. As a competitive gamer at heart, I wonder — what will my next step be? Well, until we reach enlightenment… we keep grinding. Always.
