Excited to kick off an interesting build: a level measuring project combining an ESP32 microcontroller, a leveling sensor, an MPPT solar charger, and small solar panels to power the setup. 🌞🔧
The data will be transmitted wirelessly using Meshtastic (Heltec T114), an open-source mesh networking platform, making it perfect for remote or off-grid monitoring. The goal is to create a self-sustaining system that captures and relays precise level measurements in real-time, even in challenging environments.
The ESP32’s versatility and low power consumption, paired with solar-powered energy management, make this an efficient and eco-friendly solution. Meshtastic adds that extra convenience with its seamless communication capabilities for wireless data sharing.
I’m still in the early stages, but I’m excited to see where this goes! If you’ve got tips, insights, or questions, drop them in the comments—always open to ideas. Stay tuned for updates on the progress!

Nobody said it had to be pretty! Currently working on a little project to measure distance, like rainwater or water levels. The unit is standalone with it's own ESP32C6 processor and it uses a Heltec T114 to communicate information and send out warning and critical levels using Meshtastic. Will show the final build once its all working !

Small, but Mighty! I recently built some of these Meshnology nodes and loaded Meshtastic on them. They have Heltec V3 boards in them making them small but mighty. The second picture is the same node with a whip antenna ... Looks great to me !
The build video is here: https://youtu.be/L_CK9WWxByg

**Update #2 - To me, the image I created below shows how I think about MeshCore vs Meshtastic routing. In my mind Meshtastic is more of a full mesh where MeshCore forms stars around repeaters, but also a mesh with less traffic. As noted in the video, both has their advantages and disadvantages.
What are your thoughts on this image?
Update #1 - I've updated the picture to show the repeaters in MeshCore are meshed
Update #2 - I've updated the picture to show that clients can talk directly to each other (within RF range) in MeshCore
