Checked on my Meshtastic solar nodes on the roof that has the 40c thermal switch in them to turn on the fan, and it's working!

Busy with an interesting project with Reyax RYLR999 Bluetooth to LoRa chips to send data over very long distance between two devices, ending up in a Bluetooth app.

Did a bit of WarWalking (aka wardriving) with MeshCore and the MeshMapper App this morning around a lake near our house. Interesting how the signal is great on the other side of the water from where my office is ...

Here is the update I did to the RAK 1W (3401). The issue was that when it transmitted it drew 1.5A of power, and I only had a charge controller that supplies 5V 1A, so I had to upgrade the controller. I also added the cooling rail to carry the fresh air to the top of the enclosure.

Two (Meshcore and Meshtastic) solar nodes down for maintenance today. One is getting a power upgrade to deal with the RAK 1w and the other a power upgrade and adding cooling for summer 🌞

Did a great Meshtastic traceroute to another users 1W RAK (3401) node using my SolarXiao 1W clear across Pinellas County in Florida, a 33km (20 mile) trace. This is not super far, but considering it goes over a heavily populated area with freeways etc in-between, it was a great trace ...

Added a few 3D prints to my RAK 13302 (3401) 1W Meshtastic build.
1. Added a guided airflow from the holes in the bottom to over the RAK
2. Added a mesh over the extraction fan to protect against bugs.
See installation here ... youtube.com/shorts/-HGI85uPW-...
Issue:
the airflow now covers the USB port on the RAK 13302 1W. I will have to add this external USB connector (amzn.to/4tdFv4T) to externalize the USB port so I can update the firmware. Thanks to the user who suggested this ..

I’ve been testing solar charging on the Heltec V4 Solar node from my recent build (https://youtu.be/BWjLcdKF0_8), and the results look promising!
The Setup: Heltec V4 with a 3W Solar Panel Location: Florida, USA (Winter)
The Results:
Recharge: Started at 50% and hit 100% within a few days.
Nightly Drain: Drops about 14% overnight.
Recovery: Back to 100% by 11 AM on sunny days.
Since I'm in Florida, we get good sun even in winter, so results will vary if you are further from the equator. But for this location, a 3W panel is definitely feasible for the Heltec V4!
