Something extra special for those of you wanting to see more steam locomotives on my channel!
Come along for an incredible chase of Union Pacific's 4-8-8-4 Big Boy steam locomotive No. 4014 as we follow it over Donner Pass from Roseville to East Truckee! This was not an easy trip for the Big Boy. It wasn't just the huge crowds of train buffs standing too close to the tracks (including ON the tracks directly in the train's path at Truckee), but the train was also delayed two or three hours when it hit a tree on the tracks just past the Auburn Trestle.
Despite the crowds, I was amazed that I was able to catch this thing at not one or two or even three, but eight locations along the route: Roseville, Auburn, Applegate, Alta, Blue Canyon, Yuba Gap, Truckee, and just east of Truckee when the train stopped for a crew change. And of course it was great seeing UP 1983, the Western Pacific Heritage SD70ACe, act as the diesel helper for this run.

Not sure why it took me so long to get this video uploaded, but enjoy!
Met up with a bunch of other railfans for some train action at Eckley Pier along Union Pacific's Martinez Subdivision just outside of Crockett. Union Pacific treated us to an autorack train with an AC4460CW painted in the updated color scheme leading and the daily Roseville-Oakland manifest (MRVOA) while Amtrak surprised us with Phase IV heritage P42DC trailing on California Zephyr train No. 6 and a new Siemens Charger cab car on a test run and a new Siemens Venture trainset on the eastbound San Joaquins!

New video is up from my last ride on the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) "Legacy" trains. In service for over half a century since the system opened in 1972, these trains are headed into retirement as the New "Fleet of the Future" trains have taken over service. Come along as I ride the Legacy trains one last time from MacArthur Station in Oakland to Fremont, retracing the very first BART route, following a special farewell ceremony at MacArthur.

Visited the Niles Canyon Railway this past weekend to chase Clover Valley Lumber No. 4, an Alco 2-6-6-2T Mallet steam locomotive, which turned the milestone 100 years old this day! Video includes some rare runs east of Sunol along Pleasanton-Sunol Road!
