The submariners of the Royal Navy work tirelessly to keep us safe.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer boarded a Vanguard Class submarine, a guardian of our nuclear deterrent, as it returned after months at sea. This is known as “Day Zero”.

He met the crew’s families as they waited to reunite with their loved ones — some of them meeting their newborn children for the first time.
