Outdoor Tech Instructor focuses on structured, technical route planning and navigation workflows.
On this channel, you will find clear step-by-step tutorials for Komoot, Google Maps, Google My Maps, Garmin BaseCamp and related tools. I explain how to search, plan, organize, export and connect routes efficiently – especially on desktop, where advanced route building really happens.
If you prefer structured guidance instead of entertainment, you are in the right place.
In addition to the videos, I provide compact quick reference guides and structured resources to support practical implementation.
Topics include:
– Komoot (App & Desktop workflows)
– Google Maps features and route handling
– Google My Maps workflows
– Garmin BaseCamp workflows
– GPX export and import
– Desktop-based route structuring
This channel is the English counterpart of my German channel “Harzer Bergwald”.

Many users expect a route created in Google My Maps to start navigation directly in Google Maps.
What did you expect when you created your first custom route?

A new video from my Komoot Step by Step 2026 series is coming soon.
In this episode, I show how to find suitable routes directly in the Komoot app and how to refine the results step by step.
This is the 2nd part of a new English step by step tutorial series, rebuilt from scratch for the current Komoot version in 2026.
Just like on my German channel, the playlist will grow over time and cover the most important Komoot features in a clear and structured way.
Do not miss the first part, where I explain route search on the Komoot desktop version https://youtu.be/eASX73p0uXY

Hello everyone, I have now started implementing my tutorials with an AI voice. My own speaking skills, especially with technical topics, are not the best and I want you to understand the content. I gladly accept suggestions and criticisms to improve my content. I hope now that I can provide you with significantly more content on Komoot and other navigation applications.

Next level off editing tours. In the last tutorial we created a tour of almost 4000 kilometres(pic 3). Now we divide this tour into 13 stages(pic 1+2) and plan an overnight stay for each stage end. Look forward to the upcoming tutorial about multi-day tour planning, which will be published soon.
I wish you all a Merry Christmas!
