Baby hitting is NOT bad behaviour. It’s brain development.

If your baby (10–18 months) is hitting or slapping — this is normal, not aggression.

Why it happens:
The emotional brain (amygdala) is active,
but the control centre (prefrontal cortex) is still developing.
So emotions come fast, and hands act before thinking.

That’s why laughing, overreacting, or saying “maar ke dikhao” can increase hitting.

What helps:
• Calm, neutral response
• Clear but gentle boundaries
• Teaching “gentle touch”
• Consistency from all caregivers

Babies don’t need punishment — they need co-regulation 🤍
This phase will pass.
