La Gran Fuga (The Big Break) is the Gold-certified sixth collaboration between the legendary duo of trombonist, composer and musical director Willie Colón and famed singer Héctor Lavoe, released in 1970. The songs reflect the duo’s views on life’s reckless joys and profound tragedies, like the nostalgic remembrance of Lavoe’s grandmother’s hilarious sayings on “Abuelita” and the swinging “Barrunto” which describes the sadness of heartbreak.
Craft Latino is reissuing the digital album, recently remastered in 2024, and making it available in standard digital audio formats on 4/25. The remastered hi-res digital album and vinyl were reissued in 2024.

Nuyorican bandleader Pete Rodriguez exploded onto the Latin music scene with a sound that young Latinos could relate to in an instant, the Latin Boogaloo.💥
This sound, which was not much more than a guajira riff with a back beat, gave young Latinos a sound they could respond to. It was sung in English, the language of young Latinos living in New York in the mid-sixties. Pete connected with trumpeter/vocalist Tony Pabon, who was a crucial part of the boogaloo experience with his writing and exciting antics when he performed as lead vocalist for the band.
This album titled LATIN BOOGALOO was released in 1966. It would be followed up by the gigantic Pete Rodriguez hit, I Like It Like That, an album from 1967 that still resounds through TV and movie themes worldwide. Pete served as a U S Marine and returned to his native Bronx, NY, in 1964. At that point, being a skilled pianist/arranger, he set out to form a band of his liking with dreams of making a big impact on the Latin scene. He was to become the King of Boogaloo within a couple of years, thanks to recordings like this one.
Craft Latino is reissuing the digital album, newly remastered, and making it available in standard and hi-res (192/24) digital audio formats for the first time. The remastered version is available everywhere.🎼🎧
