At YAH Pilates Kids we look at the body of the child to see where the brain needs to develop to execute certain motor functions and addres these weaknesses.
We look at proprioception, bilateral integration, crossing midline skills, muscle strengths and weaknesses, balance and core strength, muscle control, primitive reflexes, the vestibular balance system, eye tracking skills and nutrition.
If primitive reflexes are still retained or any body-brain connections weren't fully developed, you will see a child struggling in school. They will struggle to keep their bodies up, struggle to sit still, struggle to copy from the board, reading difficulties, clumsiness, struggle to write neatly etc. One will also see more severe things like toe walking, constant biting or sucking of things, meltdowns/anxiety, fight/flight/freeze responses, stimmimg, tics, sensory seeking/avoidance, bad posture, fear of catching a ball, difficulties riding a bike, difficulties swimming etc.
