Matt's Colorado Astro Adventures

I drove 90 minutes out to Limon on the Eastern Plains of Colorado today in pursuit of clear, calm skies, planning to capture the daytime lunar occultation of Venus (the Moon passing in front of Venus). I got completely derailed by alignment issues. My equipment (and brain) weren't quite functioning correctly in the 100°F/38°C heat. At one point, my scope temperature was over 120°F/49°C!

I didn't get a single frame of Venus footage, but I did get to watch the occultation start and end visually through binoculars, which was an absolutely incredible experience.

This occultation was supposed to be my next video. Since I'm taking a short summer break anyway, the channel will be quiet for a bit while I recharge.

While I'm gone, make me feel better: What is your most frustrating "gear failure at the worst possible time" story? Let me know in the comments! 👇 Have a great few weeks, everyone!
