Realistic visuals or audio altered with AI, such as:

Swapping someone’s face or voice

Fabricating real-world events (e.g., a tornado in a real city)

Extending backgrounds or adding lifelike scenes that didn’t happen


When? YouTube adds a label if:

It appears realistic

It could mislead viewers


Extra visibility: If the video touches sensitive areas (health, news, elections, finance), a prominent label is also shown directly on the playe

What doesn’t need disclosure?

AI usage that is either clearly fictional, unrealistic, or minorly edited, such as:

Cartoon-style or obvious fantasy

Color filters, audio fixes, beauty effects, script/summaries generation

AI-generated thumbnails or captions


Animations aimed at children are also exempt—even if AI-generated
