Hi there, I'm Jodie Flavell. An artist & designer based in Yorkshire, UK.
I'm a big believer in bringing unique, eye-catching art into people's homes, whether that be through traditional mediums such as canvas, or creating functional art by offering one-of-a-kind finishes to furniture.
My YouTube channel is here to teach the art of furniture painting. I use a wide array of furniture styles & techniques, sometimes painting folk art, other times abstract art & sometimes just getting crazy with the paint and creating unique, textured pieces!

I'm a big fan of rustic, boho and folk art, so why not combine all three?!
With ReColour Chalky Furniture Paints, I layered black on top of a lighter colour for this piece, then painted bright purples and yellows over the top for quite the dramatic effect and lastly distressed to peel away some of the paint and age the piece.

My first tutorial in over 5 months has just dropped on YT! This piece was really fun to create, with lots of layers and drippy paint to achieve a very colourful and rustic bohemian look!
Also I apologise for the lack of videos & lack of replies to some of your comments, the shop launch has taken over my life more then I ever could have expected, but things have finally settled down and I now have more time. I've just finished painting & stencilling my shop display window floor! Jeez that was hard work 😂 but so worth it!
I deliberately made it look worn for both practical and aesthetic reasons. Firstly, I just love the old, worn look as many of your already know, but secondly I figured it may get a little scuffed, so I might as well make it look as though it is supposed to look that way!!
Next up is the ceiling... I'm thinking copper or gold leafing, which do you think??
I'm so excited guys... bit by bit jobs are getting done and I'm one step closer to opening ... plus I've vlogged the whole window area makeover, so keep an eye out for the vid! 🥰

Hey guys, I wanted to share a little before story before I became a full-time painter!
Before I setup my business full-time in 2020, I was run absolutely ragged from the corporate rat race & was dealing with PTSD after a couple of serious assaults from back when I was a prison officer. I began painting as a way to unwind & give myself a therapeutic outlet. I started with the most basic upcycles & had absolutely no clue about social media, staging, photographing or any of those things that comes with running an independent business online.
Fast forward four years, after a lot of hardwork, I now consider myself a furniture artist & have been able to make enough income to make this my full-time job.
My business has helped me find new meaning & confidence in my life that I never knew possible, which then in turn created a positive, powerful outlet for my PTSD. Plus getting to be my own boss means everything I do is for ME & my family. It isn't only flexible, but it is empowering!
Tha Creative Corner membership group has been setup to help women who are either at the start of their new painting business adventure, who might need to learn more painting techniques, or who might that extra nurturing & support to take their business and painting to the next level.

I haven't done a sneak peek in a while, so here's a teaser of a piece I've just finished!

I have EXCITING news!! My friend @kerry-rosethedecorativepainter & I are setting up a membership group "The Creative Corner", which we are launching next week on the 1st of Feb!

The New Year brings new adventures!! I'm really excited to announce that I've just taken on a shop in Harrogate, North Yorkshire!!
There's a lot of work to do, so I won't be opening quite just yet, but it opens up a whole new world of possibilities, including a more settled base for coaching & tutorials.
