Wanted to catch up everyone on everything I've done in January! A busy month for me behind the scenes usually, but at least I've been pretty visibly productive too.

I released two full-length videos last month! I wasn't the fastest to review Sonic the Hedgehog 3, but I caught up with it! Meanwhile, I explain why Steven Soderbergh's Presence, a ghost story from the spirit's POV, isn't a horror film really.

Odessa Young's fishing port suffers grave misfortune in The Damned; Lea Seydoux leads French stars sending themselves up in Quentin Dupieux's typically weird The Second Act: a misanthrope has his life saved by a stray dog in Hong Kong drama Alone No More; killer frat boys get their comeuppance thanks to some killer Bystanders; Sunray: Fallen Soldier is a film made by and starring ex-Royal Marines Commandos; and Frank Grillo has to survive a night under a supermoon turning everyone into Werewolves!

Not done one of these video roundups for a few months, so let's close out 2024 with a little recap! First of all, I wanted to apologise for not being more active over the last month, I've largely been wiped out by illness, and I've hardly had enough voice to get in front of a camera, but that does finally seem to have cleared just before Christmas. Over in my Shorts, I did a lot of horror in October and lots of Christmas in December, covering a bunch of smaller titles (particularly in the latter month, when I could get my voice to hold for 15 minutes). I also did a few reviews of titles I saw at London Film Festival, like Shamiek Moore going bowling in The Gutter, Cate Blanchett leads the G4 against bog bodies in Rumours; and Elton John looks back on his career in Never Too Late. Elsewhere, an influencer gets buried in Die Before You Die; a woman is tormented by an evil sheriff in Blood Star; a mute serial killer is tormented in The Deserving; Daisy Ridley is cooped at home with her suspicions in Magpie; Michael Cera leads a strange Christmas Eve in Miller's Point; Santa thinks he's a superhero in SuperKlaus; thieves hide using time travel in Things Will Be Different; Lee Mack and Chris McCausland are Home Alone in Bad Tidings; and Danny DeVito gets festive in August in A Sudden Case of Christmas.
