It is amazing how well the capture the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 captures the sweet spot between classic charm and modern performance. I call him Hades, and he is proof of that balance.

At his heart is a 648cc, air-oil cooled, parallel-twin engine, putting out 47 bhp at 7,250 rpm and a meaty 52 Nm of torque at 5,250 rpm. It runs a 270° crank, which gives that addictive rumble and buttery smooth power delivery across the rev range.

The 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch makes highway cruising effortless - Hades feels perfectly at home sitting at 120 km/h all day long, with plenty of grunt left if you want more. Despite weighing around 223 kgs, the balance and low center of gravity make it surprisingly easy to handle in the city and rock solid on open roads.

Being a BS4 version, Hades is pure and raw - no ride-by-wire, no traction control, no unnecessary electronics. Just a classic twin-cylinder setup, fuel injection, and old-school motorcycling with modern reliability.

For me, Hades isn’t just a machine - it’s that perfect mix of retro design, mechanical honesty, and mile-munching capability. A bike that feels alive every single time I twist the throttle.

Not many bikes carry the kind of road presence that the 2016 Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500 does. I call mine Zeus - and trust me, the name fits.

Powered by a 499cc, fuel-injected UCE single, it pushes out 27.2 bhp at 5,250 rpm and a solid 41.3 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. Built for long hauls, this cruiser is all about comfort, torque, and that trademark thump.

And while the Thunderbird 500 wasn’t meant to be a speed demon, Zeus has clocked 140 km/h with me and my friend both sitting on it, proving that this old-school tourer can still surprise you when you open it up on the highway.

A true mile-muncher, a rare classic, and for me - more than just a machine.

Not many people even know the Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500X exists — most have only heard of the 350s. The 500X packed a 499cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected UCE engine, making about 27.2 bhp at 5,250 rpm and 41.3 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm.

It came with factory alloy wheels, tubeless tyres, and a flatter handlebar for a more street-friendly stance — a very different vibe from the classic cruisers RE was known for.

Discontinued a few years back with the rest of the 500 lineup, the 500X is now a rare sight, but it remains one of the most unique Royal Enfields ever sold in India.

Mine is a 2019 Drifter Blue and Black 500X and I like to call her Iris. Would love to meet and talk with other 500X owners!
