Dr Romesh Wadhwani, Founder & Chairman, Wadhwani Foundation, talks about what it takes to become a successful entrepreneur in today's world at TiECON 2014.
He states that entrepreneurship is about creativity, building new businesses, products and services. He says an entrepreneur uses his imagination, knowledge, drive and passion for creating impact in the lives of many.
He talks about the 4 important points one needs to keep in mind while starting the entrepreneurial journey.
1. Learn the art of seizing opportunities
2. The art of dealing with failure
3. The importance of building great companies. He defines a "great company" in the following manner:

Dr. Ajay Kela, President and CEO, Wadhwani Foundation talks to ‘Business World TV’ about the Foundation & its Initiatives across the globe - the focus areas in the past, present and their impact. Dr. Kela stresses the Foundation’s endeavors to solve the significant problems of unemployment & underemployment. He talks about the gap between what academia is producing and what the industry needs, and how the Skills Initiative of the Foundation is working towards filling this gap.
He details the Foundation's significant efforts towards creating high-value jobs through creating and supporting entrepreneurs, and upskilling people to fulfill jobs. The Foundation’s entrepreneurship-led programs help the entrepreneurs & aspirants and inspire them towards entrepreneurship.
Dr. Kela also elaborates upon the vision of the Foundation for the next five years - to create between 2-3 million jobs and a run rate of a million jobs a year at the end of 5-years. He talks about the Foundation's Venture ScaleUp program which targets companies with 25-500 employees and is generating Rs 5 crore-Rs 700 crore revenue.

Mohd. Mohiuddin, a BBA final year student at the Department of Accounting, Dhaka College who enrolled for the Employability Skills Course by EMK Center finds it an eye-opening experience which pushed him out of his comfort zone. Apart from building his soft skills, he found each module of the course to be resourceful, insightful and relevant to the modern workplace. He says that the entire program was well-paced and efficiently organized, and the lessons of this course greatly helped him to develop essential skills like communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and attitudes and behaviour at the workplace.
His personality was greatly enhanced due to newly acquired presentation skills, public speaking and leadership skills, and digital literacy at the workplace. He believes that the 21st Century Employability Skills Course is necessary for all young professionals.
