Two years ago, Brittany McKinnon and I created graphics for an impactful documentary called “A Dream Delivered: The Lost Letters of Hawkins Wilson” which followed the life of a man who was born into slavery and tried to reconnect with his family after he learned he was freed on Juneteenth. When you listened to @hoodieallen in college while studying to be a graphic designer and then you actually became a graphic designer and end up doing work for Hoodie 🥺 What a cool full circle moment ❤️
I worked with Hoodie directly to bring his ideas to life. I was really excited to see this project irl and it felt more special after seeing his show. While on stage, he told the crowd that he’d be at his merch table later to meet fans. Any number of fans. For free. I’ve been to hundreds of shows and I can count on one hand how many times I’ve witnessed this from direct support or headlining artists. This act of kindness really stuck with me and made me realize how much I value working with genuine, passionate people. Thanks for bringing me into your world! I hope we can collab again in the future 🙏🏻
