Sometimes we spend years asking God, "Why did I have to go through that?" Only to discover that what we went through prepared us for what we would one day walk into. Every setback wasn't a catastrophe. Every closed door wasn't the end of the world. Some of your greatest lessons were learned in seasons of disappointment, delay, and difficulty. Perseverance builds character, and character produces discernment that no amount of money can buy. Don't despise the process—God often uses affliction as a classroom for wisdom.
Some may say this posture comes from the slavery mindset our ancestors endured. I would argue that it does not. Rather, it comes from a place of deep reflection and profound gratitude. When you've survived what could have broken you, you learn to appreciate what others often take for granted. You recognize that every victory carries the fingerprints of God's grace. Gratitude born from perseverance is not weakness—it is wisdom.
"It was good for me that I was afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes." -Psalm 119:71
And remember Romans 5:3–4: "Tribulation worketh patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope." What felt like a setback was often God developing the strength, wisdom, and discernment you needed for your next season.
If you don't remember nothing else I tell you, remember this.....NOTHING IS WASTED! -Tyesse

Happy Father’s Day to the fathered and the fatherless. For many of us, this day is filled with a mixture of gratitude, celebration, reflection, and sometimes grief. Within the African American community especially, the story of fatherhood can be beautiful, complicated, inspiring, and painful all at the same time. Some are honoring fathers who were present and loving. Others are remembering fathers who have passed on, fathers who were absent, or relationships that never became what they hoped they would be.
Wherever you find yourself today, know that God is present in every chapter of your story. Scripture reminds us that God is “a father to the fatherless” and a refuge for those in need. Even when life leaves unanswered questions or empty spaces, you are never abandoned and never alone. The God we serve is omnipresent, surrounding us with divine love, comfort, guidance, and strength. Whether today brings joy or bittersweet emotions, may you be reminded that the Eternal One walks with you, holds you close, and remains both shelter and sustainer through every season. Happy Father’s Day.

Sunday Scripture: Psalm 68:5 — “A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in His holy dwelling.”

One of the greatest lessons in life is learning to be content. So often we focus on what we don't have, who has more access, or what opportunity hasn't arrived yet. But there is something profoundly powerful about being grateful for where you are while trusting God for where you're going.
Contentment is not settling—it's recognizing that God's goodness is already at work in your life. When you stop obsessing over what's missing, you begin to notice what's present. Gratitude shifts your perspective, and often, God entrusts more to those who appreciate what they already have.
"Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content." -Philippians 4:11
