Originally known as Bhai Lehna Ji, Guru Ji served Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji selflessly and became a true sacrifice to the Guru.

Guru Nanak Dev Ji passed the Gurta Ghadi to Bhai Lehna Ji, and named them Guru Angad Dev Ji.

Today we remember the Shaheedi of 13 Gursikhs during the Nirankari clash of Vaisakhi 1978.



During the yearly Vaisakhi Smagam in Sri Amritsar Sahib, news had spread of the Nakali Nirankaris shouting slogans of slander against the Sikh faith and the Sikh Gurus. Led by Bhai Fauja Singh, the sangat (congregation) made their way to peacefully protests against the insults being made.

During the protests, many of the Sikhs were held back and ignored by the police. The Nakali Nirankaris, supported by the police, began to attack and fire upon the peacefully protesting Sikhs, leading to the Shaheedi (martyrdom) of 13 Gursikhs.
