Hello birdie gang!
Community update post time!
Firstly, if you missed it, my latest podcast interview with Dr Jason Crean is now available. We discuss how to make food fun for your parrot!
You can find it here: https://youtu.be/RXI5Y8wiYDk
It's been mega busy and also very hot here at the bird HQ. We've been doing lots to keep the flock cool. Extra bathing opportunities, ice in their waters, frozen fruit treats as well as gentle misting have all helped keep them happier in the heat!
It's really important to remember that although many parrots are genetically adapted to cope with hotter temperatures. The one's we often keep as companions have grown up in more temperate climates, so are more used to cooler temperatures!
Some more quick announcements:
Me & Sophie are excited to announce will be hosting a special one day Parrot Keeper Workshop in September along with Nicky from Shaping Behaviour and president elect of the IAATE.
This is going to be a very special event as it not only includes professional talks, but also a tour of the Kiwa rescue centre and opportunity to get close to some very special parrots.
This workshop day is suitable for both professional zoo keepers as well as companion parrot keepers or rescues.
We do only have limited spaces due to venue capacity, so if you're interested do take a peek promptly!

For those of you who have been asking we now have the entire range of our food products back in stock on the website after a huge restock. I apologise for the slight delay, but we got slammed by back to back wholesale orders!
We have also reduced our free postage threshold and added a new product: The Digestive Support Mix.
This mix to designed to gently support and help your bird's digestion. Perfect as an extra in their dry mix, for foraging or for a bird who needs a little extra support after medication.

Also, for those of you who have been waiting/asking. HOT BIRD SUMMER IS BACK!

The flock have been doing fine. As you can see from the photo we've been doing some training around the conures and cockatiels to get them more used to being out and in proximity at the same time. So far Olive & Char or Pickles & Scampi are best at this!
They have been enjoying the brighter weather, even if it has meant an increase in cheeky noise levels. We popped up an extended flock update recently over on Patreon too, including info on how Louis is getting on, so if you're on there head over an take a peek!

As for myself, very tired. Been extra busy with events, talks, restocks, orders and general life stuff! Still trying to keep up with my warhammer, painting, gaming and tv/anime.
Also, thanks to a very kind BD gift I am going to try and indulge my interest in astronomy!
Been considering playing a PC game called "The Isle" where you play an Dinosaur, but not sure if I should invest.
Hope you're all doing well!

Hello parrot people!
Community update post time!
In case you missed it, my latest video interview with Dr Jason Crean talking about: 'What You Should Feed Your Parrot' is now live!
It's a question I get asked lots so I thought it would be worth a broad discussion topic!
You can find it here: https://youtu.be/zRuuJJCh5Ec
There has also been a BIG restock over on our webstore. Lots of food items back in stock along with some new products going live too.
Do check it out if you've been asking: bestbehavedbirdsshop.com/
There is also a competition over on Instagram (Same name as on here) to win tickets to Think Parrots. If you fancy going to the biggest parrot event in the UK and stopping by to meet us, be sure to follow me over there/enter!
We will also be giving a master class session on Nutritional Enrichment, so well worth taking a peek!
The flock have been doing fine. LOTS of bathing. Many of the birds have been enjoying bathing in the play sink while others such as Scampi prefer to bathe in my hands lol
Exceptionally busy for me with lots going on, so not as much time for fun stuff sadly!
Hope you're all doing well!

Hello parrot people!
I hope you're all doing well. It's time for the usual community post update!
firstly, if you missed it, my latest video looking at what your cockatiel may want from YOU is up now!
You can find it here: https://youtu.be/tH_a4qZXQsI
We have also added some exciting new goodies to our webstore including new mixes, freeze dried fruit and first aid items along with restocking favourites and high demand bits!
Check it all out here: bestbehavedbirdsshop.com/
We know you are all excited to pick up bits, so are always trying hard to keep things in stock.
For channel members and patrons, there will also be an upcoming discount code. So do keep an eye out for a dedicated post on how to apply it!
Otherwise, lots going on here work wise and with the flock. The cockatiel gang have been REALLY enjoying their bathing as you can see from the photo. Tutun especially has loved getting into the play sink, while the other boys enjoy being sprayed lightly for their baths.
Scampi has also been doing something mega cute. She has been insisting on bathing in my cupped hands under the tap. One day she just decided, no sink for me, I want you to be part of my bathing routine! Pickles meanwhile has just been watching it all unfold and grumbling lol
Olive and Char have had some extra training of late. I've been trying to shape Char's roll over into a play dead behaviour which is going well so far. While Olive is extra vocal, cheeky and demanding!
Finally, if you're on Patreon you'll know what's been going on with Louis & Kipling. They both are doing fine, but obviously keeping an eye on things. They have both been foraging lots when they can!
As for us, as always incredibly busy. So many things to keep on top of which can be mega demanding. It's meant a lot less free time and also with stresses in our personal life lots of tiredness!
Also, if you're into reptiles or invertebrates. Check out my other channel @Spooderpods as I recently popped up a viper gecko guide!
Have a good one!

Hello parrot people!
It's been a while since my last community post, so I thought I'd give you a quick update on what's been going on.
Firstly, if you missed it, my latest video exploring our small bird business is up now! You can find out all about what we stock and how we do it!
You can find it here: https://youtu.be/7Jna36ZtOak
We have also had a MASSIVE restock and added some new products to the store, including things you guys have been asking for. So do go check out the new additions to the range: bestbehavedbirdsshop.com/
It's been crazily busy here and it doesn't seem like it's going to settle anytime soon! But, we are still making time for the flock and also made sure to get our latest patreon video discussing light levels up today too!
The birds are doing fine. The cockatiels have been mega active during most outings, probably due to the change in the weather. This means lots of roaming on the floor, singing and posturing!
The conures have been their usual selves. All of the conures have been busy destroying new toys we got them as well as demanding extra baths. Clearly they want to stay looking their best!
As for us, work work work with some hobby time where possible. Still painting my models, still watching anime and we are playing through the Resident Evil series currently on number 2!
Hope you're all doing well!
