Rest in peace my brother. I met Harold in 1982. He was a doorman at a club called the Wave in Honolulu. There was a restaurant that went on a business next-door so he started a gym. There was a 10 of us some of the bartenders from that club and Harold really changed so much in my life his stories of THAILAND and his new Thai experience there and for the next six years, I did whatever I could to earn the money to get to THAILAND. I now live there.
I hadn’t seen Harold in over 30 years from my time in Honolulu with him and I know he did some movie choreography and what not in the meantime he was training Sylvester Stallone sister Tasha for many years, but I’ll tell you something about Harold. He had the charisma the good looks. He was just an amazing fun guy and a guy that was never to be messed with. You can ask Dennis Alexio, who was totally afraid of his kicks. I think they made a movie together. It’s kind of a cult movie hard ticket to paradise or something like that if you can look it up, it is so funny to watch. I worked in the movie business for 40 years in Hawaii. It’s probably the worst movie I ever saw, but having said that one night I was in Pattaya(14 years ago) and low and behold, who do I see but Harold and his long hair in his costume like clothing and it was a great reunion cause I highly respected this man for so long and with all the skills he gave me inside fighting and outside fighting and of course THAILAND and I told them all that and then he told me he built a house in Hawaii with his dad and so I finally got his phone number his address. We were both going in separate places at the moment I went and checked out his house the purple mansion I called it. Unfortunately, his dad passed not too long after building the house and they were close. I know that really hurt him but when I started seeing Harold more regular, mostly going by the house going and taking them out for lunch I could see that I believe he had Parkinson’s. I could feel his body shake as he rode with me in the back of the bike. He obviously wasn’t the man I knew, but all those fights and all those head hits took their toll. I mean, Harold‘s toes were all broken in every direction sadly, as this he lost his great girlfriend that he had and he had a series of people living at his house that he shouldn’t have people try to have an intervention didn’t work. He unfortunately borrowed a lot of money. I think the last saddest thing I heard about Harold was you got arrested at the 711 for stealing cat food spent a couple of days in jail that wasn’t Harold that was Parkinson my last time with Harold we went to the beach. He posted some videos from the same beach. I wanted to tell the story because it’s like 47 years I knew him.
Shadow I wanna thank you for making this video that was in July 2023 so it was in and around the same time I saw him last when Harold was in his prime I can honestly say I can’t think of any other trainer that could give you the insight on Thai Boxing then Harold.
I don’t know when he died. I don’t know where he died and I don’t know what the final cause of death is and sadly, I don’t know where he was in interned if anybody can shed some light on that, that would be great., I actually found out from a good friend of mine Steve, who also trained with Harold back in the early 80s. He had sent me an email about a year and a half ago, but he didn’t know when he died. Take care of shadow thanks again for bringing up some some good memories and some sad aloha.
