After Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Ukrainian soldiers demolished a statue of Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya outside a school in Chernihiv, Ukraine.
Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya, a Soviet partisan who fought against Nazi occupation, was brutally executed and her body was mutilated by the Germans. She was declared a Hero of the Soviet Union.

Unfortunately due to the Russia Ukraine War in 2022, the Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya monument was destroyed on April 21, 2022 during the Derussification campaign in the Ukrainian city of Chernihiv. In December 2022, Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya Street in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, was renamed to Sofia Galechko (WWI Ukrainian Sich Riflemen member)
The story of one of the bravest girls during World War II, Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya, was publicly executed by Nazi Germany at the age of 18.
Her body was mutilated by Nazi German soldiers.One of of her breasts was cut off.

What a crazy year for us.
I know it’s been a rough year but all we can do is hope it gets better in 2022.
We may not be able to visit our family or celebrate with friends and family this holiday, but it’s best we keep our distance.
