“Fog Ahead” is the second single from my upcoming “Dreams In Aspamia” EP. The track, a melding of downtempo, cinematic funk and jazzy hip-hop beats, unfolds with slick drums, suspenseful bass lines, and psychedelic wah-wah guitars. Soon, mysterious strings and sinister flutes join, conjuring an alternative soundtrack to a hallucinogenic chase scene in a cryptic 70s occult thriller. As it nears its end, it shapeshifts into a final beat-less, floating, meditative outro. For fans of Badbadnotgood, Curtis Mayfield-style instrumentals and A Tribe Called Quest boom bap grooves.

This project is the creation of three longtime friends: Kutiman, known for his genre-blending work in psychedelic jazz, funk, and ambient music; Ouzo Bazooka, a master of Middle Eastern psychedelia and Balkan vibes; and their frequent collaborator Dekel, a key figure in the local funk and soul scene. After shaping the project together, they brought in the mesmerizing vocalist Lala Tamar to complete the group. Tamar’s Moroccan and Latin roots add a unique and enchanting layer to the music, making it truly one-of-a-kind.
