July is Disability Pride Month in honor of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) that passed in July 1990.
The word "Pride" there isn't to negate the ways in which living with a disability can, and does, negatively impact our lives. Instead, we use it to combat the societal narrative that disabled people are worth less, and the shame that places on the disabled body—deeming it to not merit equal dignity.
This channel will be on break for July to allow my body the rest it needs.
