Here we look at watches as timepieces. Not only do wristwatches keep time, they also carry on personal stories and memories we inherit from the past. They can only take on their significance, as meaningful parts of our lives, in relation to individual stories and collective histories and in relation to our experience of every day life - in style.
Consumer advocacy is another strong suit of mine, and I aim to equip my audience with wide-ranging and detailed information to ensure that they make knowledgeable decisions for their purchases, avoid dodgy deals, and protect their investments, even as I do my best to help them enjoy participating in this hobby that has brought so much joy into my life.

Universal Genève, Specialists in Complicated Watches since 1894. Resurrected on the eve of their 130th anniversary in 2024.
The Zürich-based Partners Group, the ownership group behind Breitling and their successful recent revival since, have announced their acquisition of Universal Genève.
I am given to understand that the group is aiming to position Universal as a more boutique, “high-horological,” and classically elegant counterpart to Breitling (one particular word that came up was “couturier”!). Nothing could be more appropriate for a marque that was once one of the world's foremost makers of chronographs. Their exquisite timepieces were distributed by Henri Stern Watch Agency in N. America (that's Patek Philippe USA for you) and by Hèrmes in Paris, who would proudly retail and co-sign Universal's creations and even sell some of them under their sole branding at their legendary 24, Faubourg Saint-Honoré location.
I genuinely trust the visionary leadership of Georges Kern who seems to realize the time and care demanded by the calling of this important project.
But, most importantly, I believe in Fred Mandelbaum. At the end of the day, it is almost poetic to see two of the pioneering chronograph-makers from the golden era come together under the same umbrella!
As for you, good people, what model would you like to see revived in the same vein of such Breitling "re-editions" of the last few years?
A classic Tri-Compax? The Polerouter as imagined by a young Gérald Genta? Or one of the sporty '60s classics: "Nina Rindt" or "Eric Clapton"?

Check it out at 8p (PST; Los Angeles local)! We're going to also conclude our fundraising campaign by making the donation live to UNICEF (we have managed to raise an amount that I rounded up to $475 USD).
The lucky number will be drawn by the Google random number generator. A second number may be drawn as an alternate if the winner does not or cannot claim the prize for whatever reason.

In light of the devastating news emerging from Morocco and Libya, this revenue generated from this raffle is now dedicated to those affected by the natural disasters in the Near East and to the memory of those who are lost.
