Out here it’s pretty simple—bonfires in the yard after cleaning up brush piles, cooking supper at home, watering plants before the heat kicks in, checking on the chickens, and the dogs following us around like supervisors that don’t do any work. Most days look about the same, and that’s honestly the whole point.
No big productions, no fake “country life” act, no trying to turn ordinary living into something dramatic. Just real life as it comes: fixing little things around the place, laughing at dumb stuff, sitting outside when the sun goes down, and enjoying the quiet.
If you like calm days, dry humor, and the kind of “boring” that feels peaceful instead of empty, you’ll probably fit right in.

It’s been a wild few years and am glad I’m coming back- day by day. Been working on the back porch trying to make it not look like the east county I grew up in. Instead I choose to create a space where I thrive and enjoy spending time at to decompress every single night. I always said one day I’d make our back porch like all the air bnbs we stayed in. somewhere that has been designed with taste and a bit of fun. Funny how inflation has made it my priority to make my back porch like the fun bars, fun places. Because you know damn well we can’t afford to go out on occasion to even do that experience. Never mind finding people to trust your kids with that aren’t two hours out also fighting inflation-gas ain’t cheap… it’s hits people that hard and then I think… there are millions supporting zucker the sucker who is treating his employees like complete trash being monitored to help ai take their jobs… its so wild lol. Anyway this back porch is where I go to work out the thoughts racing in my head.
