Kakuten museum This project marks the beginning of my summer work and explores the vertical potential found in the corners of a cube. Drawing inspiration from the traditional Torii gate, I was fascinated by how an ancient architectural symbol could create such an immersive and spiritual experience. I wanted to echo that sense of openness and calm in my own design, using a similar architectural language to invite visitors into a space where they can fully appreciate the beauty of Japanese art.
The structure is imbued with a near-religious symbolism, stemming from the initial concept: to elevate each corner of the volume toward the sky. The gesture suggests an invisible force, as if an unseen entity is pulling the building upward — lifting it gently, like strings guiding a marionette. This act of elevation embodies a spiritual aspiration, evoking a connection between earth and sky, material and immaterial.
